I have been looking and thinking about getting a new touring bike over the past year, and could have spent a lot more, but am a big fan of good quality and a great deal. Haven't had a chance to take a real ride yet, but a quick spin around my neighborhood indicates I am going to really like this bike.

New bike purchase made possible by flipping bikes (for the money) and finding out Performance possibly had left over stock from BF member Halfbent on Sunday's Ohio BF/CV ride.
I like the 2008 Fuji Touring better than the 2009 anyway. Better colour. lol. (You got it for less than normal dealer cost, btw)

My PFN10 I got off Craigslist. I was going to flip it, but it fits and rides nice. I think I'll keep it.

A special thanks to 23skidoo for sending me the final part to finish this bike.

19?? Free Spirit FS3 3-speed

Just grabbed this one this morning from the curb: Free Spirit FS3 (made in Taiwan, date?)

Pretty red! :> My wife will love it.

Any advise on maintaining/checking the three speed hub shifter?

Yes, thanks. I did do some looking and didn't find a whole lot, and I think I may have even jumped into that thread.

So far it's nice, light and responsive. Its a keeper, I'll give it to my son when I'm too old to ride. Untill then, it will get a complete rebuild, in stages as my wrenching skills improve. I put on new rubber and brake cables, adjusted the rear hub (had some minor issues with axle, will deal with later) and almost road it this morning. But, I chose not to since the headset was a little loose and I didn't want to cause undue wear.

Thanks again, I would have likely passed on it had I not been lurking 'round the forum.
And no its not for sale.
... well maybe... a nevermind.

I haven't taken time to do that much research yet, but I did find some info else where in the forum.
You saw it too! Jax CL. I inquired about that one also, but was told it has been sold. Good find.

Just won two 1978.5 Treks on Ebay for 162.50+local pickup. I'll be keeping the smaller one, and hopefully I can sell the bigger one to pay for the auction, gas, and lunch for the guy driving me up to get them.

Here they are:

It would fit, but my bike buying days are done for quite awhile -- no funds for the next few years.

You should be able to find a buyer -- no problem.

Raleigh Record - Saved from the Dump!

Raleigh America Record, Large Chromalloy frame, upgraded from 10 speed to 12 speed with Shimano DR's and shifters, alloy wheels, seatpost.

$20 on Craig's List and it was a mess.
- Added New parts, bar tape, cables and elbow grease: Total investment: $50.

Looks real nice, better than my Marathon. I'm surprised it came with only 5 gears on the back. For $20 you can't go wrong!

Odd Peugeot

Saw this one being tossed out and couldn't pass it up. after some adjustments the Svelto RD and the head light/tailight work great! He even left the spanner tools in the bag. SN# 0936251 but because Peugeot did have standard conventions i am left to guess around 1972-1974.

Picked these up yesterday. Both of them for 30bones off CL. Both are about the same size, they fit me just right. They obviously need some TLC. Im picking up another one tomorrow, most likely swap some parts. Is there such a thing as too many bikes? lol
'74 Schwinn Varsity
'86 Bridgestone 100

Whats the best method for getting surface rust off the frame?

Very nice find and in great shape. Very similar to my '74 Moto Classic including the Huret Svelto and suicide shifter. Nice vintage color too.
