I'm sorry but the OP's Dooney & Bourke bag looked awful 7.5 years ago, and it still looks awful today.

I second this. This gives the local goodwill store more appeal now!! Very nice!

You'll be quite surprised when the only bike that fits you in my shop has a lady's purse attached to it...

Wait until you see what I've done with this one.
I believe I've made it Neal worthy. Pictures from the blizzard later this afternoon.

Ummmm. Green leather. Love green leather. Even "insect green" leather. :>
I think one good addition to one of the DB bags may be a stiffener of some sort lining the compartment.
I did it for a member on an army bag. Used a piece of 8 ounce veg tanned leather.

Inspired by @rhm 's Number 110 "Sprint" saddle and made to be worn by @ jonwvara 's former green and white Gitane TdF.
I actually used two leather "purses" or hand bags to make this ensemble. The Green Pulicati Italian was used for the bulk of the bag. I picked it up at a local consignment store for $20. The brown came from the swap table at the transfer station for free. It is a North Country Leather Works, Rochester, NH hand bag, that I'm guessing by the style and the smell, it came from the '70s.
I decided the handlebar bag needed a matching saddle bag. I used the scraps to piece together this "O" Box (inspired by Brooks "D" Bag).
I still have a few odds and ends to finish up. The saddle bag needs mounting straps. The bar bag needs the hold down straps, and attachment points for the top lid.
Thanks for letting me share, and no Neal, you and Shrek cannot take these to Portland.

@pastorbobnlnh- That's really nice work.
Is the white stitching on the face of the Pulicati decorative, or did you add internal reinforcement? Do you wax the stitching and seams to make the bag more water-resistant?

Thanks for the kind words @nlerner and @ rootboy. Neal, that's a pretty Sugino, but I'm hopefully going to use a Stronglight crank with a @jonwvara triplizer.

Thank you! All of the white stitching is actually a light tan and is the waxed thread sold by the Speedy Stitcher people for their sewing awl. So all the stitches you see were done by me. I had to cut down and resize the original bag to work with the Cannondale handlebar bag holder.
