Boy, have I got the right stylist for you:

I put purple cable tips on any new cable that I install on a used bike. Quick reference to tell if the cable has been replaced. I found a big bottle of them online and they were a lot cheaper than silver ones.

Uhmmm..... for me I ALWAYS have to position crank with the drive side arm pointing at 3.25 (not 3, not 3.5, but has to be 3.25!) oclock for pics with the chain on the big ring, front wheel pointing straight ahead, the rear derailleur o the second to smallest cog and the front wheel never higher than the rear.... That's why my pics of my bikes are so boringly consistant......
Oh!,... and I always wrap my bars starting at the brake levers and going out to the stem and bar ends...

How 'bout matching blue o-rings for the brake adjusters? Molded out of blue Santoprene c. 1985.

When refinishing a frame, I like to use stainless button head screws for the head badge.

Yeah, I do that too. Maybe that's what's keeping me from leading the peloton?

When I was competing in ATBs, one of the top riders was Andy Tout. His mascot was a handlebar mounted squeeze toy of a crocodile head, that would squeak on uneven terrain. In the very rare instances where you got ahead of Andy, you knew when he about to pounce, as you'd hear the crocodile squeaking get louder, as he got ever closer. For most of us, the sound of that squeeze toy was the equivalent to the theme music from Jaws. Come to think of it, I believe that squeeze toy was also offered in shark and pink Brontosaurus versions.

- I finish bar tape off with a couple wraps of electrical tape that must line up with the edge of the bar tape, and then use a couple wraps of self adhering silicone tape to cover the electrical tape. Love that stuff because I absolutely hate electrical tape that creeps back off the bars.

- All my road bikes have Sugar skull bar end plugs with varied bolt colors.

- All threadless stem bikes for my family have custom headset caps.
A puppy dog face on an blue anodized cap for my youngest daughter's MTB
A red anodized cap with a griffon on my oldest daughter's road bike
A black cap with 'Its a magical world Hobbes ol buddy...let's go exploring!' on my oldest daughter's MTB
A black cap with horse on my wife's road bike.
A black cap with a sasquatch on one of my road bikes.

Thanks. The space was designed by my mother-in-law and my wife, long before I met my wife. It's a loft apartment in a landmarked converted warehouse building, hence the interior brick walls. My wife likes wood, and I agree, so we have lots of wood and some metal and as little plastic as possible.

They're called truss rods. I think they were originally used to reinforce prewar fork designs, but were retained through the 50's for aesthetics.
This one's from 1929.

In college, I had an old pre-war bomber with truss rods.

One of my roommates opined, that they were there "to keep the bike stable when you go over 60"

Not really into trademarks, but I guess my quirkiness shows in red bar wrap. I have Brooks leather wrap in brown, and faux brown leather wrap on a couple of other bikes - even one with yellow wrap, but my fave is red - anything but black or white!

My '64 Legnano with red Fizik, after the red cloth wrap got too ratty.

My '61 Legnano with used red foam tape, to keep cost down for $100 Clunker Challenge. I have new red cloth ready to wrap ... someday.

Red Specialized tape on my 2002 Allez.

Red Fizik on my 2007 Roubaix.

@Slightspeed, I'd call that quirky, and I like it.

One of the quirkiest bicycle people I've met is framebuilder Bernie Mikkelsen of Oakland, California.

He loved thinking up wacky epithets which he would record on the walls of his workshop.

Two I can recall were "Anti-flatulent sour cream and bean burrito" and "Earwax sandwich."

His framebuilding could be equally quirky.

He did a road bike for a friend and decided on lugless with chainstays for fork blades and fork blades for chainstays.

One framebuilding quirk seen on many of his creations was what he termed "the stray pubic hair." This is an asymmetric swirl on one of the bottom bracket sockets.
