Had a rare chance to ride with our daughter, she is here for a close friend's wedding, tonight. I adjusted the saddle height and swapped out the Ultegra SPD-SL pedals for a spare set of Campag NR, sans cages and straps, on my CAAD 10 for her to use. It was well worth scrambling about in order to get it ready so we could make 20 miles before they had to get ready to head to the hitchin' up ceremony.
She flew down Wednesday evening, so she couldn't easily bring her 1997 R500 'Dale. Lives in Atlanta, completely car free. Very proud of this young lady

Last of My Winter Projects
1980's Peugeot Versailles, modded for comfort, but kept it under 30 lbs. The shakedown ride around Thompson Lake and the local loop revealed no surprises, and only a couple of minor adjustments. I'm getting better at this...
She handles really well on dirt/gravel with the higher handlebar and grips, and the largest tires I could stuff in there.
That makes eight bikes ready-to-ride for this year, and two in pieces for next winter's projects.

Fixed gear ride today with Peter H.

That MAP is super attractive. Had also been looking closely at the Ebisu, especially after riding with John and Scott in Tucson last November. John rode his mustard colored Ebisu and I was enthralled.
Then I started on a fairly complex project with Gugie, so we'll see how that turns out first.

Rode the trail by my house today. I gained 7 pounds over the winter and lost 1.5 miles per hour off my average speed on this route compared to last year. Out of shape again. I kept looking at the trainer in the front room all winter long, again. Oh well, I will get it back.

I did an 85-90 mile 'day off' solo training ride today, partly to test out the new cockpit on my Koga/Miyata race bike - I had swapped out the 90mm stem for a 100mm yesterday, and also installed wider bars to give the bike a more modern feel. Was shooting for 100 miles today but ran out of time. No biggie. Rare nice weather today too, here in the rainy PNW.

I missed out on the fun going on down in Portland on Sunday, but my consolation ride was about 20 miles a cool but sunny riding between Gig Harbor and Purdy, WA while my girls were in church. And in doing so, I think I may have doubled my mileage for the month. SAD!

All the big birds were out today. The eagles are migrating back to MN, so only fitting to pose the Condor in front of an eagle's nest. This particular nest is occupied all year long, but with all the passers through, we have more eagles lately than you can shake a stick at.
Temps are headed up, and so are the average speeds, now that I'm not wearing layer upon layer just to get outside. Happy Spring!

Um, well... I tried to ride this morning, but felt an odd "whomp, whomp, whomp" type of sensation in the rear tire. I cut short the ride and only did 5.75 miles and returned home.
D'oh... I believe this photo below speaks for itself. Kenda K35 27" x 1¼ gumwall tire with 820 miles since new. You figure, I haven't ridden since I stored my C&V '85 Fuji away for the winter. Somehow, somewhere, during the cold months, the Kenda tire developed a bubble or split inside with the cord threads. Yikes!!!
Time to get on Amazon and order new 27" gumwall tires...
