Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

What do you say you guys drop this personal feud? It's disruptive. You guys will not be exchanging pleasantries ever, so let's just walk away and forget about it.

Those are the rides he does in addition to commuting and other longer rides. I don't know noodle soup personally but I can't understand why you have so much trouble believing his mileage. I mean, it's a lot but certainly within the realm of a recreational cyclist. I know people who have done a lot more.

Exactly. I live 10 miles from work, so 4x20=80. My regular training loop is 38 miles. so 4x38=152.

152+80=232

232x52=12,064

12k miles is the usual minimum annual mileage. This past year was only 11,812 miles, but I was travelling 3 weeks for work, and wasn't able to ride.

I don't understand, it's really not that much for someone who lives in the southwest.

I suspect he’s a younger city dweller, and wastes a huge portion of his day dealing with traffic. Between that and crap weather, it can make riding 12k miles a year seem impossible. Throw in a wife(or non-cyclist SO) and some children...

I probably wouldn’t ride this much if I had those time commitments.
