I've gotten some pretty great deals off of CL on bike stuff, actually those are the only kinds I've bothered to inquire about. Every time the seller has been a legit cyclist who had no use for the item and we'll have a nice short chat about riding during the transaction. Maybe I've just been lucky, but even the email correspondence leading up to meetup was a good indication that there was nothing shady going on. Could also be that the seller isn't hard up on cash and will take anything to free up some space.
