Serotta or Lynskey, Custom made Ti, outfitted with your choice running gear. Can't go wrong.
I love my Ti road bike so much, I built a Ti hard tail to play in the woods with.

It's probably just me, but if I were going to spend 10K on a ride, I would go with three different 3K bikes and have some variety with my rides. A 10K bike isn't going to do anything to improve my riding to justify the expense.

I'd probably go Ti, but if I went for carbon this would be the one:
You could be in the $10,000 range depending on how you set it up. You can play with all the options at Competitive Cyclist.

If that were my budget, and I wasn't in a hurry, I'd order a 650B randonneuring bike from René Herse Cycles (now being made by Mike Kone in Boulder, CO). The wait is now a little over two and a half years, though. The price for a complete bike is around $10,500 depending on your options.

You and about 1000 other people...And if anybody spent anything close to 10 grand on that, to the head hospital they go. Though it is one hell of a nice bike, it is not unique, it is not special, and anything you can get at competitive cyclists, anybody else can get too.

If you NEED custom geometry or want the joy of owning a custom bike, fair enough. I can see getting a Pegoretti or a custom Lynskey or what-have-you.
But really - a bike is essentially a bunch of tubes welded together. These small builders aren't getting any special tubing made just for them. So essentially, you are paying $6900 for a welder. And it isn't as if you are getting a really unique looking bike either.
Not to say that your choice is invalid, Brian - just that I don't get it. Each to their own, I suppose

Since I already have a good performance bike and a good single speed, I think I'd go for custom classic steel build and Brent Steelman (Steelman Cycles) would be a serious consideration. His craftsmanship and artistry is just fabulous.

Still get change back from your $10k, or has the NoCom gone up in price? Last I looked they were around $6k.
If I had $10k burning a hole in my pocket & I had to spend it on one bike, I'd get a Crumpton w/ the internal Di2...and then use wheels I already owned, since new wheels would probably put that bike over budget.
