I'm Norman and I've been riding for a bunch of years, since the '70s anyway. 'Have done a handful of Davis DCs on both singles and tandem, and too many other rides all over to remember. 'Have also worked in a couple of bike shops (it turns out that Danno and I both worked at the same shop in Santa Barbara, though not at the same time), as well as being a road rep for several more bike mfrs/dists, covering the Central Valley. Came to my senses in the late '80s and switched careers so now cycling is truly enjoyable w/o having to live and breathe it 24 hrs a day. I've always been a roadie, though I have one of the original Specialized Stumpjumpers; currently the stable consists of a custom steel Melton, Merlin XL, Look KG481SL, and Pedal Force RS with me here, and a San Rensho usually stored under my in-laws' place in HI for when we go back every year for vaca. Oh, and I have a Michael Johnson tandem, also. I've got a couple of boys who I'm hoping I don't burn out on cycling (not likely since I usually ride on my own, but, the older one is starting to catch the bug, so I find that encouraging), and even the SO is getting back into the swing of cycling after more time spent swimming and running. When I'm out on the road, I can usually be found somewhere on Saratoga/Pierce Rd/Mt Eden/Redwood Gulch/Montebello/Stevens Canyon and Prospect Rds. I look forward to meeting more of the N Cal BF denizens as time goes by!

My name is Eric and I am 44, living in Sacramento. I work for the Franchise Tax Board (mentally dodging flying tools and bike parts) as a Windows server admin. I am the proud owner of a Steve Rex road bike and a Steve Rex Euro-style commuter (click on the links below for pics if you'd like to see them). If the bikes look a mite large, it's because I'm 6'5" with a 36" inseam. I ride a lot less than I'd like at the moment due to recent rotator cuff surgery and mysterious numbness in my arm - herniated disk, perhaps? In any case, I haven't ridden in any major organized events for a while (Marin Metric back in '80 I think!), but I always try to make the Support the Parkway ride which traverses the American River Parkway - quite the amazing local cycling venue!
Currently deciding how to build up an old Bertin (given to me by CyclinTom in San Leandro - thanks again!) as a singlespeed for use here in flat Sacramento, and an avid reader of Bikeforums!

Cool t4mv ... when I don't have much time, I usually go out to Mt. Eden, then Pierce over to Saratoga then back. So maybe I'll see you on the road sometime.

Eric: I love that town bike. It looks just about perfect for Sacramento. My commute bike is an '89 Trek 660 that I've set up as a fixed gear with full fenders. My dream is to have Rex build me bike that would be a throwback to the English path racers: road geometry, track ends, bosses for full fenders. With track ends you could go fixed, freewheel SS, or internal gears.

I'm Ryan, 29, grew up in Vallejo and now live in Davis. Been riding bikes seriously for about a year (not-so-seriously my entire life). My passion is mountain biking but I enjoy the convenience of the road bike. I am getting ready for my first century in two weeks. I try to commute 2-3 times a week, which helps me rack up the miles (32 mile RT). I also just had my first mountain bike race last week, which was an absolute blast (Prairie City Series). I think, breathe, and sleep bikes. In my free time I work as a civil engineer.

I'm Huy,23, and I too now live in Davis. I grew up in San Jose and came to Davis for school. Got my B.S. in Computer Engineering but can't seem to leave. I work as an IT specialist for a couple of departments on campus. Unfortunately, I got into road cycling a little too late to be able to race collegiately. That's ok, I don't think I'm in racing shape anyways. I currently ride a Motobecane LE Champion (I know it's a mail order bike), and a Bridgestone Kabuki that I repainted(it is now "branded" senza sordini...musicians would know) and built with Campy Veloce. I also have a Nishiki that I use as my campus bike as well as an Iron Horse road bike and a Scattante that I built up from the frame that I have on loan to friends (hopefully they will buy them from me ). Lastly, I have a Pedal Force RS frameset that I hope to build up soon. Oh yeah...and one of those IRO fixed gear group buy frames on the way. I think addiction is an understatement. Hopefully we can get a central valley BF group ride going considering everyone that lives so close (vacaville, sacto, vallejo, folsom, etc.).

Well, now that I've been "outed" - John here, resident of San Ramon since 1987. Re-entered "serious" cycling about 2-1/2 years ago to work off the residue of my dot-com era expense account.
I'm 51 years old, with a beautiful wife and 11 year old daughter that both ride. The little one just completed her first metric century, The Cinderella, this month.
I have a 4 mile round trip commute, and try to get in 12-18 miles during lunch when the schedule and weather permits. I like riding centuries, and have racked up about 18 or so in the last 2 years.
I seem to have a knack for accumulating bikes. My main ride is a 2005 Giant OCR Limited, but I just finished building a vintage Italian frame with 10 speed Campy and have a NOS 2002 Pinarello frameset on the stand waiting to be built up. In addition, I have a nice 1985 Eddy Merckx Professional and a "like new" 1974 Swiss Mondia Super that I fully restored about a year or so ago. I've got a bunch more laying about, but they are more or less transient and eventually get moved along to feed my addiction.
San Ramon and the surrounding environs is my 'hood, so if you're out and about here and you're looking for a riding partner that will make you look like Lance, I'm your man. Feel free to PM anytime and we'll get something together - maybe even invite Bikingshearer and make him spring for lunch.....

I'm Ramon and new to this site. I'll be 36 in June and am back riding after an eight year period off. In the 90's I went through several bikes, Trek 2100, Marin Pine Mountain, a KHS mountain bike and a Trek 2300 that I sold in 1999. I finally told myself it was time to get back into cycling and that it would help me stay in shape. I found a great deal on a 2004 Trek 5200 52cm on ebay and have been riding it since November. I'm originally from San Francisco but moved to Sunnyvale four years ago after getting fed up with commuting to Silicon Valley. Right now my immediate goal is to ride Moody road until that blasted climb no longer zaps me. Page Mill is longer but no where near as bad for me. I printed out the steep climbs of the Palo Alto area map from the Palo Alto Bicycles website, that will be the next goal.

Hi, Im Ryan. Im 26 and was born and raised in Lancaster, PA. Moved out to Sacramento for work about 4 years ago now. Im a roadie with a 2003 Trek 2300 and also have a mid-70s orange Motobecane Nomade that im looking to turn into a fixed gear for riding to work. Hopefully ill get into racing soon, as soon as i can find a way to get away from my job. I work in research and found the normal 9-5 is kind of myth. Have been reading BF well before i actually became a member. Looking forward to meeting people.

Most people call me Jon or Pinky, or whatever. I'm 19, born in Daly City, and live in South City right now. I started out as a mtbiker and I own a 1995 Trek 930, and a 2006 Kona Kikapu, I also have a Trek 4300 frame laying around. I don't really have anyone to regularly ride with, because no one lives really close to me. I have ridden with another bfer before, and hope to meet more of you guys. I recently have on hold a Giant OCR 3 c3(road bike). I'm always going to like mtbiking better, but I feel like mtbiking is alot better suited for group rides or when you have a partner. Road biking would be fun by myself, because I can just walk out the front door.

Hi there, my name is Bernie and I just joined BF, again, since I have initially joined 3 years ago. Anyway, I live in Mountain View, and do both inline skating and mountain biking. I love the trails in the Bay Area, especially the Bay Trail. I have a mountain bike, but I really want to get a road bike for cycling on asphalt, but can't really afford it . Oh well.
Oh yes, just wanted to add that I'll be 32 this year.

Mike here, San Rafael resident. I have rideen all over Marin & Sonoma counties and am now expanding that area with more rides around Vacaville Sacramento and even Placerville. One road bike, one tandem road, one off road one off road tandem two recumbents, too much confusion.
Thanks to this thread will be riding the Vacaville ride May 20 on the road tandem, hope to see some of you there.
