My setup has been known to support a cigar and Manhattan session. But I got a great outside ride in today. Best to all.

It’s a Joe Graham (he traded as Lenox Designs). I made that about 5 years ago in a weeklong workshop at his studio in northern Ohio). Other than the occasional use of a power drill, it was done with hand tools....spokeshaves, draw knives, steam bending, etc. He now lives in Bozeman and is making beautiful bows, as in bow and arrow.

LOL I think we need to assess these setups in GCN style: Hack or Bodge! but jokes aside, all good and you have to do what you have to do in northern hemisphere. This is my 4th winter? Zwifting I believe? It was a bit harder to get started this season since it was such an amazing year for outdoor riding I was reluctant to transition over but getting used to it now. I keep a bike on the trainer all year round in the event the summer has rainy days. I have an Elite Ritmo smart trainer/wheel on and riding an Opus Fidelio 18 speed.
Can't even imagine not having a fan or a matt below my bike to catch the gallons of carnage I let out on my rides. Here's my pain cave. Was just easier to move the bike out of the man cave and into my office where my computer and large monitor were already located and then didn't get flack from the rest of the family to move my bike when they wanted to watch TV.

I think the garage is not a bad place to Zwift. A bit rough to start but 5 minutes into it i would appreciate it.

Reclaimed storage room in the basement. Google home voice controls music, fans and lighting. TV connected to Apple TV or laptop. Got a bit carried away with the motivation posters but I blame it on a COVID induced haze.

My office/hobby room. Two different Harbor Freight mats, lower one sealed with mat tape.

the pain is going to be swapping bikes back and forth on an everyday basis.

I’ve come a long way in 3 weeks.... I was stacking boxes on TV trays in the living room when I first got started last month. Here’s where I am now. I’m using an USB-c to HDMI cable to run it from my iPad to a TV.

Anyone know why in the UK they call trainers, turbos?

I thought they called them turbos because they already called sneakers “trainers.” Those whacky Brittons. Can’t spell, can’t make a decent whisky, can’t find the exit. Now the Scots- a truly fine people. Ruggedly independent, fiercely loyal to their kin and clansman, and donnae gie a sheep’s arse if’n ye call it a tarebo err a whirligig, laddie!
Heres ta Scotland! May those that love us, love us.
And for those that don’t, may the Good Lord
turn their hearts;
And if He canna turn their hearts,
Let Him turn their ankles
So we’ll know them by their limpin’.

Total newb here, two days in. My randonneuring friends say it's been decreed that trainer bikes must have fenders or it's not rando. Check. Car 24" to my left for familiarity. Seat bag, GPS. Since winter in Portland is typically 40f and rainy, I'm thinking garage door open most of the time. For the true rando experience, I'd drag it outside just enough to put me in the rain. Occasionally sit in the alley in the rain and fix a flat tire. Maybe not.

Sweet fender color- matching the Soma is nice.

Thanks. I have a friend with color-matched fenders and I always thought it looked sharp.

Sharp looking bike also, would like to see more pictures if you have them and some info. about this bike. I put fenders on a vintage steel bike which works out well but considering converting one of my road bikes to something more like this.

Removed the front fender for this ride because it included some trails. Sticks and front fenders don't play nice. This iteration still had the black stem, which eventually would be silver. I also hadn't cut the steerer down yet.
Mt. Hood in the distance. This earlier iteration still had black seatpost, stem, and spacers. All that would eventually be silver.
Attempt at a DIY seat bag. Not so successful. Mostly final iteration with silver seatpost, stem, spacers. You can just make out the French flag bar-end plugs, a reminder to about Paris-Brest-Paris 2023.
Top of the day. Damn hard day on the bike, it was pretty much all downhill from here.
This iteration had a front mud flap. Eventually removed it and rotated the front fender back a bit.
CZ trail, near Scappoose, OR. Pretty early iteration.
The day I brought the Soma home. Carried that box ten miles on my commuter.

Great shots and thanks for sharing. Just those little changes you made really make a difference to how the bike looks. Thumbs up for carrying the bike in a box home on another bike! that must have got some looks!
