Will the North Bay weather dump cats and dogs and frozen Slurpees? Will the @gugie Decaleur survive the Bolt-breaking tube bender? This will be an epic TDMIL, assuming it all goes off and no reservations are cancelled, nor any material modulii of elasticity are exceeded.

There’s still time to take up a collection and get nlerner out there to ward off any bad weather.

Given the omicron news, I wouldn't be eager to get on an airplane right now!

From Day 3 of TdMIL 2019

I showed @BoltBreaker that many hotel rooms have small dryers.

I hope the weather clears, it would be a shame to miss dinner & drinks at the William Tell House in Tomales:

Planning a tour in the winter is especially audacious. The Last Winter Tour of the Willamette Valley was a great example. We risked having rain, even snow, but the Bike Gods parted the skies and gave us sunny, yes cold, but sunny days. We all had a grand time. As stated earlier in this thread, we had an inch of rain hit us on day 3 of the 2019 TdMIL. Miserable though that was, overall it was a grand time.

Here's the current forecast:

live snapshot at https://www.wunderground.com/forecas...aldsburg/95448

Tuesday's plan is a 50 miler. I don't trust weather forecasts more than 2 days out, but plans need to be made, so final call on this tour will be tomorrow. There's already lot of email chatter amongst our grupetto about options.

Oh, and Rule 9.

Yea, smooth sailing!

What could possibly go wrong?
I'm sure it will be better than hanging out with the MIL anyways :-)

If I was on that tour I might suggest a ride from wherever we’re staying in Tomales, over to that pub, wobble back home later in the day.

It's a long hike from the Continental Inn to William Tell and back, but we'll take our chances. There's beer at stake.

Morning will be even tougher. We'll have to cross the treacherous Hwy 1 for fresh ham and cheese croissants over at the Tomales Bakery.

A tour is nothing without suffering.

Well, weather forecast continues to improve.

We have a word for 0.03" of rain in the PNW. It's called "summer".

I'm calling this early, we're go for takeoff. If I'm real lucky, PDX will be closed for snow, my flight home will be cancelled, and @davester will convince us to just keep heading south on Hwy 1 so he can relive Tourica, which he missed.

Very stealth of you to leave out any mention of Wendy's Kitty "Boutique" over on Mound Street. Eh? Nudge nudge...

The sudden lack of a challenging forecast is (almost, but not really) disappointing. I was about to head out to the garage to add fenders to the Raleigh, but that seems so unnecessary at this point. However, if I do put fenders on you know that would absolutely ensure that we would not have a drop of rain.

As we like to say in the PNW, if you don't like the weather, wait a bit, it'll change.

Put on the fenders, leave the canolli. Andy will find more on the route.

Christmas Eve, all packed. I like to visualize everything I'm bringing before it all goes into the bags.

I think I have a stowaway.

"Survival kit contents check. In them you'll find:
- One forty-five caliber automatic
- Two boxes of ammunition
- Four days' concentrated emergency rations
- One drug issue containing antibiotics, morphine,
vitamin pills, pep pills, sleeping pills, tranquilizer pills
- One miniature combination Russian phrase book and Bible
- One hundred dollars in rubles
- One hundred dollars in gold
- Nine packs of chewing gum
- One issue of prophylactics
- Three lipsticks
- Three pair of nylon stockings.
Shoot, a fella' could have a pretty good weekend in Vegas with all that stuff."

BTW, does the cat go in the handlebar bag, the seat bag, or one of your jersey pockets?

That’s an 18 lb cat, he’ll just climb up on my shoulders.

This morning, as it was pouring rain, I was packing up my bike in preparation for leaving on this tour tomorrow morning and my brain kept saying “you idiot, what are you thinking!” I have a feeling that my wife was having similar thoughts.

From my vantage point here in Palo Alto, I'd say the weather gods are not playing fair. I think I watched your entire 0.3 inches of predicted rain fall in the last 15 minutes. Stay as comfortable as you can and have fun!
