As far as my favorite triple cranks- I think it's a toss up between the Shimano 6206 or the Sugino AT. Unlike T-Mar, I love that sleek look!

Yes, I purchased a scratched up M730 unit last year and polished 'er up, would have to say its the most iconic MTB crankset, beautiful, had to source some knock-off dust caps to complete the look

I was really shocked at how well the M730s shined up- they weren’t in the best of shape- but they ended up pretty glorious.

What are your feelings about the way the arm attaches? I like the “stack” of the older cranks more than the 1990-ish bulbous “dome” of the Sugino/SR/Suntour ones. The design is nice- I always lusted after the XC Pro cranks- it wasn’t until comparing these cranks that I noted the similarity to the rounded designs that started around 1990- like the windows on the Ford Taurus!

My understanding is that the domed shape moves the attachment points inward, allowing the BB to be shorter. That saves weight, reduces scuffing, and perhaps makes everything a bit stiffer. Aesthetically, though, I do prefer the older style...

Thought I'd post an update with them installed on the Kona Kilauea. Really a great crankset.
