Be advised, that WD40 will rinse grease out of bearings, and such!

You've just reminded me - if you coat the inside of the seat tube with WD40 as I do, make sure it's dried before putting the saddle/seatpost back in it - otherwise it will displace the grease on your seatpost.

Probably better to use Frame Saver, boiled linseed oil, or some other proper rust-preventer.

Aye! WD40 is pretty lightweight as a protectant.

The other protectants work in the same way but last longer - I just use WD40 because its cheap and lasts longer than my service-period, so it works out well for me. If I were rougher on my bike (flooding notwithstanding) then I'd definately considering a heavier duty corrosion inhibitor though!
