So looking at TTown posts, Kim was inducted in the Hall of Fame the night I was there. But when they started doing the announcements, Junior had to go to the bathroom, and he needed food, so we missed most of it. I didn't realize until I was reading Facebook that she was inducted that night.
In technical related things, I put the longer ISM saddle on and the bike immediately felt better.
I also finally, finally installed the seat rail SRM mount. I got it with the track cranks but for the life of me could not figure out how to put it on - the computer kept getting in the way. Basically I failed the IQ test, like how does this shape fit there? Well, today, when putting on the saddle, I put the PC7 onto the mount held it up to the saddle.... and I realized, oh, that's how it fits. I don't know why it took me something like 19 months to figure it out.

I ordered a tubular one of these. Same mold as the revolver.
https://www.lightbicycle.com/photowa...tml#javascript
mates well with a 23mm tub.
The downside was about a three month wait due to COVID and tubular being special order.

I went with the same wheel and love it. The width is... surprising at first, but it tested shockingly fast, and feels really good.

Small question and I might just be going crazy here, but what the heck happened to track chainring costs?
I was looking to replace the drivetrain on one of my framesets and the old traditional standard FSA is 100 bucks now (I remember them at $50 forever on Ben's Cycle), Shimano 7710's are 140+, Sugino Zen chainrings are 250 bucks (I bought a 50T two years ago for 140 and I thought that was a lot), etc etc.
I know Covid's hit supply chains pretty hard and such, but when did they all double in price?

Track rings have always been a bit steep, its why I prefer a 130bcd on my bike and 110bcd on the kids' bikes, BMX chainrings can be quite affordable and very good quality. Even they can still get expensive at 40-60.00 each but not as bad as 144bcd parts, probably due to the level of demand.

My wife is from St Petersburg and travels back once a year so if the Raketa proves to be round and hard wearing she will be picking me up a few next summer.

Is anyone on here running Miche Pistard Air or Pistard 2.0 crankset? If so, are you running the Miche BB or possibly a shimano Hollowtech 2 bb?

Best optimal line
I imagine in a time trial pursuit the black line is the best line.
for mass start racing when we are in the turns, would being a little inside (left) of the rider give me more of a draft than following their exact line?

The other is that generally riders will ride up the track (aka swerve right) if there's something happening like a crash. This allows you to use the banking to scrub off speed. Also, if people are crashing, people and bikes especially tend to slid down the banking. If you're to the left of the wheel in front of you, you've boxed yourself in. You don't have any place to go, or if you go onto the blue band you're not scrubbing off speed. And if there's a crash/something that happened in front of you, and you're still rolling at the bottom of the track, bikes and stuff will slide down toward you.
Ironically I would think that it would be in a team pursuit that you'd want to be a bit to the left. This way you can be close to overlapped and not risk getting taken out when your teammate swings up the track. I've never done a team pursuit but rolling along in a warm up line, I'd edge up a bit on the left side in preparation for taking a pull. If you watch team sprints the rider about to do the next stint will come up and overlap to the left just before the pulling rider moves right.

Focus on simply staying in the Sprinter's Lane during time trials. Trying to ride on the black line will take too much mental energy because you will be distracted with the edge of the track. All of that energy spent will make you tense and you will be slower.
In mass start, simply focus on holding the wheel in front of you and staying directly behind with a gap large enough for you to deal with small speed changes, which happen for various reasons. Further, if you are slightly inside, you risk getting under the rider in front and that rider coming down on you and taking your wheel out. The draft is very wide and longer than you think. You'll be fine riding directly behind.
Don't overthink this stuff.
For experienced racers:
When you enter corners on a track, you scrub off speed. And to regain the speed lost, you have to push harder on the pedals. You can see this in power files. TT specialists have learned to make the track more circular than oval by drifting wide on the straights and falling into the turns then drifting wide on the exit. This is technically more distance, but it's smoother in terms of speed and power and generally makes for a better performance, especially on tracks with tight turns like 250M tracks.

It is the fastest line even if it may not be the shortest line.

We have had some issues with the use of our velodrome Derny bike at our velodrome and we need to update our current program. I have been tasked with putting something together for our velodrome board of directors, anyone have a written Derny bike use policy, your current program for use/training, you might be willing to share or pointers where I might view your velodrome’s Derny use policy? Or pointers where to find some current use policy models, thanks?

What are the issues you are encountering?
Where I am, I am accredited to ride our moto on the velodrome. To obtain accreditation I had to be publicly licensed to ride a motorcycle and also provide proof of extensive bike racing experience and thus velodrome conduct knowledge. In saying that I am purely accredited to motor pace under the direction of a rider or coach. I am not allowed to provide any coaching from the bike unless I hold a coach accreditation. Our track is a flat, only slightly banked 397m track and if I were to turn up to a very different say 250m banked velodrome I highly doubt I could just get on a moto and go without someone attesting to my experience there also.

More importantly, it makes it easier to get boxed in. If anything, you should ride a little to the outside of the rider in front so you can respond to a move.

newbie here
anybody ride the track in St Louis? would be a short road trip for me but interested in trying it out. Have previously ridden at COS and a couple other places, so not a complete cherry, but admittedly its been a few years

Any experience/opinion on track cogs from Planet X in the UK?
They're on sale right now for $6.99 in all the popular sizes, which seems too good to be true, but I also know Planet X makes reasonably good stuff.
Recently certified at the indoor track in Carson, CA, and these would probably be for solo training and group workouts for the time being.
Here's a link and an image. What do you think? Worth a shot?
