This is one of my conversions. Converted Veloce cassette as a 8 speed on a modern Fulcrum Racing 3 wheelset.

@robbyville - My solution has been temporary for over a year. I am building a tubular Campy rim and Record hub as a replacement. It is 8V. I don't know what I will do with the current wheel set. One of the cones is pitted and is near impossible to find a replacement, no luck yet.
Oh and BTW; I removed the rivets on the cassette to free up the sprockets for spacer replacement.

Thanks for that! I removed the Shimano HG Cassette from my old wheel (shame since it's still in great shape but I really want to build this up with Campy). I also have not yet sent the Shimano freehub back to Industry Nine just in case I fail at getting the campy spacers. If so then I may have to resort to pulling the rivets on the cassette and trying other spacer options. Crazy the difference in weights between my old wheels and new though.

Update, ordered the Veloce cassette. After dropping the largest cog seems like the lowest gear will be a 39x23, thankfully I live in a flat area but wonder if I’ll ever ride in The big ring lol!

person who is helping me with spacers is traveling but hopefully will get those settle next week.

started doing the install. Down to rear brake and derailleur cables, mount some tires, chain, bar tape, and cassette of course. Seem to have the measurement for reach, saddle, etc close to my usual so that’s nice!

Update, received the cassette, waiting on the spacers. For anyone that has used a 9spd Veloce cassette on new freehub adapted to 8spd shifters... spacer behind the cassette or not necessary?

also anyone have an idea on model year of this frame? No chain stay bridge, decals seem to be 88 or maybe post ‘90. Sloping fork crown with hearts on top of crown and DeRosa cut into the sides of the crown. Just wondering since it seems the logos don’t match the ‘90’s but the fork and BB don’t seem to match the ‘80’s

It’s a 1987 or 1988 model. If it has oval chain stays it’s an 88, if it has diamanté chain stays it’s an 87.

I think it’s a 1987.

@robbyville - Note you have the Chorus brake calipers. Replacement pads are available if you search. Found a pair a few months ago. These brakes actually work really well only surpassed by the Superbe Pro with the hidden springs. The ride with the Monoplanar brakes is a Pinarello Montello.

Nice to see a De Rosa of that year with nearly period correct parts. At the moment, my 1988 De Rosa is my favorite ride, mostly because of the Ergo's and the addition of one lower gear than on the Pinarello. Both are very close in ride quality. I am hoping to ride both enough to discern a difference other than fit.

I remember loving the ride qualities if this bike and can’t wait to get back on it. The rear brake feels great but the front a little spongy, I haven’t played with adjustments yet, any thoughts?

@jiangshi - Do bikes with the Diamante CS typically have the BB shell shown above with the hole for the cable and reinforcement of the CS lugs?
Do other CS configuration also lack a CS bridge?

The bridgeless chain stay appeared in 1986, the Diamante stays disappeared in 1988, came back in early 1990's. The chain stays were Diamante prior to 1986, The engraving on the seat stays changed from horizontal to vertical after 1986. Of course, all dates are approximate. I think De Rosa moved to the new factory sometime in 1988.
