Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Yep. Trust me, at 90kg, when I really want to slow down or stop, I favor the front. Just ask my brake pads!

Turns out I wore out the rear rim faster than the front.
I see this every now and then. In one particularly bad case I have a guy on our team that rides with us locally. He's in his 50's and fast but I get the impression he is a bit more risk adverse than most of us. He will blow through about 2 sets of pads a year (rim brake) riding the same conditions where I can have a set of pads last 5+ years. Every time it's his rears that are nearly gone and the fronts are worn but still have twice as much material left. I sometimes feel he must spend the whole ride with his brake on just pushing through it.

Wow. I'm nowhere NEAR that bad!
