I commute on a 1997 Schwinn Searcher Express Cr Moly framed bike. Just had it shod with Pasela T Serves, so hope my ride feels smooth and quick compared to the studded tires I was delinquent in switching out.

Sir,
Thank you for responding so quickly and for your good advise. Turns out a sorority House(Texas A&M) were cleaning up said the bike had sat around for two years. All things considered not too bad shape kept out of the sun so paint not faded. It is a olive green with GS 100 shifters Biopace chainring. I figure for $30 how could I go wrong? Unlike a Broadwalk mounding a rack will be easy. It appears to be a good size for me, however right now I am unable to ride as a combination cable lock is running through the rear wheel. My friend thinks he might be able to figure out how to get it off without cutting and in any case he has a grinder. Hopefully in the morning the weather will improve. Stopped just long enough to enable me to buy 5 inches of rain! Then I will post some photos

the pic of my advantage is just as i received it, fresh out of a garage. yours has a more slopping top tube, which might suggest a later model year.

2010 Jamis Coda Elite with modifications. Reynolds Cro-Moly Frame. I notice a far smoother ride than a lot of aluminum Hybrids I test rode.

Most frame materials these days are quite good! Of course, I'm partial to steel road bikes, though I do own two aluminum framed bicycles as well. I only do long distances on my trusty ole Fuji Touring bicycle.

I rode a few lightweight aluminum frame hybrids and road bikes this year, at least two with carbon fiber forks, before buying an older chromo hybrid/1990s mountain bike. Can't say I felt any differences that couldn't be attributed to the tires, wheels, frame geometry or factors other than the material. My other bike is aluminum but it's a massive frame comfort hybrid with spring suspension fork and the ride is so different the material doesn't matter.

I've had my 1992 Specialized Crossroads since... well, 1992. I don't know when they switched the Crossroads from Cro-Moly to Aluminum, but it was after I got mine.

I recently upgraded from a Specialized Sirrus to a Salsa Vaya. Has a few extra pounds to it but a significantly more comfortable ride. Been very happy with it so far.
