I can only guess, as I bought my three-speeds at an estate sale (meaning the owners were dead), but it seems reasonable to guess that they were the original owners. I got a 1962 Rudge and a 1967 Robin Hood at the estate sale, for $30 for the pair.

He bought it new at a bike shop in London, ONT and rode it quite a bit over the decades (see saddle in first pic). In advancing years and failing health, he decided to slough it off, but was completely unsentimental about the old bike - he just wanted to make sure he didn't just 'give it away.' So it ended up with me about a year after he first posted. I'm afraid his health has failed completely now, he hasn't answered the last couple emails I've sent him

Hudson308, yeah I know what it's like to ride a too-small EF bike, especially with those stock, short-reaching and downward-sloping handlebars. I'll be preparing a "rider" cockpit for mine with wider bars having more of a regular full-wrap curve, and probably will use a 100-mm vintage stem, together with lined housings and possibly padded tape. My saddle suffered an asymmetric break-in hatchet shape so I don't think that I will use it for riding. My '62-1/2 Continental came with a nice Lycett saddle that is very much a B17, so I'll probably use an old B17 removed from one of my Supersports. I'll want lever hoods as well, plus modern chain and UG 6s freewheel.

Only one of the current bikes owned was bought from original owner. Early 70s Bottecchia Giro 'd Italia.

In the past, a '72 Raleigh SuperCourse was bought from son of original owner (deceased). And a neighbor gifted me his mid-80s Peugeot PH10 one time.

Most of my current bikes came to me as framesets. I do regret not having most of those original components.

A couple summers ago, while visiting my grandparents, I noticed my grandmother's 1966 Raleigh Sports hanging from the basement rafters, where it'd been since they moved into that house in the early '90s, and doesn't seem to have seen much use prior to that. My grandfather packed it up and shipped it to me here in Boston, where I cleaned it up, overhauled the bearings, and put new tires on it. It's mostly original and rides like a new bike!



I also have a bunch of take-off parts from my grandfather's boxes of stuff. He's been riding road bikes for pretty much his entire adult life, and even still does sometimes, as he's approaching 90!

I bought my '49 Raleigh Clubman from the son of the original owner, who was a pharmacist in Milwaukee (and it has a Milwaukee shop sticker at the base of the seat tube):

I used to have a 1950 Raleigh Clubman, which was given to me by the original owner, who bought it when he was working for Raleigh Industries in Boston during summer break from college. It spent most of its life on the Atlantic coast, exposed to salt air for many years and was in pretty sad shape.

The spelling of honour does have the 'u' in Australia, as in British English. There was an attempt to simplify the spelling. An example is any named harbors in my state, South Australia. They were all changed to Harbor by the Harbors Act (1913). And nothing happened after that.

Wares had been at a number of locations over the year. I bought a couple of the kids first "adult" bikes from them. Went under about 10 years ago. Their last location is now a home brewing store.

My oldest purchased via eBay UK from the original owner (via the son) is my 1957 Raleigh Record Ace Moderne. This was built by the Raleigh Special Frame Shop for the 17th birthday of the son of a longtime Raleigh employee. And after just after production had ended on the RRA Moderne. It differs from stock models in the transfers (using the block Raleigh letters associated with lightweights build by the Special Build unit), white seat tube panel and more chrome on the front fork and it has the special hollow bb spindle of the old 1947-53 RRAs. Many of the components had been switched out and updated when I got it and it was been restored to original stock components.

This is an '81 Gios Torino Super Record I recently paid a pretty penny for from the original owner. He was sad to see it go but happy that it would be used again. BTW, it rides wonderfully.
