The last batch of Continental Race 700c for 25 tubes I purchased from Chain Reaction had some quality issues with valve cores and wall thickness uniformity.
I had a couple explode while testing at low pressure which never happened over the past 15 yrs.
Next purchase will be non Conti !

They are on sale at Competitive Cyclist but I refrained for this specific reason.

Most of the folks I ride with won't use a patched tube. They give me their punctured, I patch them and use them. Other than the length of the stem I can't tell much difference.

I second that; I generally use the 52 mm version for my 25 mm deep alloy wheels.
But Michelin AirStop does not seem to be available with a 60 mm long Presta valve (for 40 mm deep wheels).
Does anyone have experience with Pirelli RoadTube?

OTOH, for deeper wheels, some folks go the valve extender route instead (eg. for you, the 20mm would likely suffice -- https://www.amazon.com/MBP-Bicycle-P.../dp/B07JV7R12D, which makes it possible to just stock one type/size of tube at home. However, these require starting with tubes with removable cores, which AirStops don't have.

No experience with Pirelli tubes, but fwiw, the AirComp version of the michelin tube is available in 60mm for at least 25mm tires: https://www.modernbike.com/product-2126182501

bike guy in the neighborhood I see a lot of flats and don't see meaningful differences in butyl tubes.

I just started using TPU tubes. It's not just a lot lighter, it rolls up really small. I used to struggle to fit a spare tube, a lever , a CO2 rig (and a first aid pack) into the tool keg. With the TPU tube it fits with lots of room to spare.
