Assuming the bottom brackets and spindles you have are symmetrical (centered on the bike frame, without an offset to either side), then you have the math right. You'll need a 16mm shorter spindle to move the crank inboard by 8mm.

For the money, it's pretty sleek. I just don't know how long it will hold without turning into a money pit.
