Here's a pic of Polly out on the trail near our house. She likes to run while we
ride our bikes. Retrievers are built for a speed in retrieving, not all-out running. If we don't stop and let her smell the roses, she'll get pretty tired.
And this is what it looks like after the run. She warms me up!

I love this thread. It makes me smile.
@xiaoman1, your dog is lovely. We had two racing (full size) greyhounds. Here is Waffle in 2017 at age 14, a few months before we had to put her down.

Ooh, I found another picture of Waffle. Greyhounds are good at looking regal. They are the laziest dog breed. They have no stamina, and they like to lie on soft surfaces.

I know what you mean and I love this thread too and have visited many times for much the same reason as you. When we say best friend we actually mean it.....no matter what my mood is, when I come home my best friend is always eager to greet me and though she can no longer hear when I call her she has managed to finally learned hand signals she seems more alert watching me.
Unlike her former companion, "Chiyo" who was always by my side while I was working in the studio, she is rapidly becoming a lap dog, much like "Chiyo" was.
I still miss hearing her "clicking" her feet and "dancing" to let me know when she wanted to go out or to eat!
My Best to you and your Family, Ben

I don't have digital photo of our Springer Spaniel. His name was Chap and he suffered from epilepsy. That was evident when he was
3 months old. The person that bred the dog and ***** knew that the dog had a history of producing pups with the condition. We discovered that later.
Chap had siezures every day, sometimes more than 2 or 3 a day.
Chap was with us for about 8 years. The last two years were terrible. We had to help him up and down the steps in order for him to do his business. A bit later we had to carry him down and hold him up while he did his business.
Finally we decided that it was time to put him down. My wife could not come to to Vet's office, so I had to do it. I carried him in and laid him on the table. The Vet inserted a needle into a vein and killed him. I cried. The Vet cried.
I took his body to a funeral home and had it cremeted. We still keep the ashes. We will not have another dog after Chap.

After our beloved Kaycee was put down, I cried like a baby, and vowed never again. I kept up my resolution for about two years and then we got Polly. I'm fully convinced now that the joy of having her in our lives far outweighs the sadness of loss. God bless Polly McGee!

Thanks, that’s or get-away spot along Montana’s Rocky Mountain Front about 180 miles from home. The old Great Northern depot was moved from town to where it sits now on around 40 acres and restored. Here’s another shot from New Years Day a few years ago (minus 10 degrees.). As usual Rover is on the run - even now at 10 years old, he is always loping around the place on the prowl for birds and gophers. I am in awe of his exuberance for life.

Yeah, I’d never guess that Barney was anywhere near 14. Looks like he might be the ruler of the roost too!

Not my deal but my wife seems to like it and if she wants to put the work in, I'll humor her. Darby seems to enjoy it and she can quit if she wants..

These girls are silly. The dog lay down before the cat. Believe it.

Nope. The innocent one is always the evil brains of the operation, the other one is the muscle.
