At age 63 (2 years ago) I could not ride 2 miles without stopping to rest 3 times. Yesterday, 2 year laters, I rode 20 miles in heat without stopping and could have gone further. Keep at it.

Sure you can do it. Just do what you can at first. Try to avoid the "no pain, no gain" notion. If you turn the bicycle into a platform of torture, you are not going to keep doing it. Go out and have fun. Remember any exercise you do is better than the best exercise that you don't do.

I hope these responses gives you the motivation to continue riding and not look back. As you can see, "you can do it." I was 40 pounds overweight, at 63 years of age, when my wife bought me a comfort bike for my birthday. Before that, I hadn't ridden a bike in over 20 years. The first few days on the bike were torture. I barely did a one mile ride and my legs and back hurt so bad that I could barely walk. After a few days of complete pain, I actually told my wife I wasn't riding it anymore. Her response was that she didn't buy it for it to sit and collect dust. That was three years, 40 pounds lost and four bikes ago. At 66, I'm on my second road bike, riding 30 to 40 miles a day and loving every minute of it. I can't see giving it up anytime soon.

Enjoy your bike, enjoy your rides and enjoy the rewards.
