Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

When you think all truck drivers in Tejas are french showers, this story appears on the FB page of a local cycling group:

Just to share a story that is the opposite of the diesel driving D-bag from a few weeks ago. Today, I was riding in the afternoon heat. A big white diesel truck pulling a trailer slowed beside me. I was totally expecting a major confrontation. The passenger (a young man in his lower 20's) lowered his window... he then reached out to me with an ice cold bottle of water. It was much appreciated. Not everyone sucks.

Yes, I just turned 68. I know a couple guys who are 70 and they still are fast enough to stay with some of the fast guys. One of them has the body of a 35 year old and the other is a small climber who might be 130 pounds.
The club had changed so much over the 33 years I have been a member. The main "A" group has changed since the pandemic and the group is smaller than ever before.
A good thing is my one friend who used to lead the fast group had gained weight and got tired of battling with the other fast guys so he has formed a group which benefits me. They're all friends and they don't mind if they have to wait. They didn't have to wait today but I might be paying for that now.

Salt is often a better option in these cases.

Yea I’m not sure why I went with a reese’s. I usually get an electrolyte drink and some sort of protein bar plus a sugary something. Not sure why I didn’t do the usual other than this “7-11” sucked.

So, a PayDay bar, instead of Reeses.

The average age on my retired guy’s ride today was 75.2 years. My wife was the youngest and I was second youngest.

I'm sorely tempted to post this video in a certain disc brake thread, but I'll just post it here. Plenty of Isetta action, but only a little bit of Isetta ass.
