Subluxated (dislocated) shoulder today.......

For what it's worth, I had two dislocations this year, one in January and one in March. My Ortho told me I needed the surgery and I had it done 4/26.
Long recovery process, I still have another month of PT before I'm fully let loose, but I have been riding my bike regularly for over a month now and things are mostly back to normal. A little tightness in overhead or behind the back movement is all that's left.
Even with an MRI they don't truly know the health of the joint until they open you up. Turns out I slid a cluster of ligaments into my armpit that they had to reattach.
When I talked with my Ortho he told me that each dislocation increases the chances of the next dislocation. Each subsequent dislocation does damage to your bone, and if there's a lot of damage they have to pack that dent in the bone with muscle when they do the repair. Which has long term consequences on range of motion.
If you have a second dislocation it's probably in your best interest to have the surgery unless age limits your chance of a third dislocation
