Oh snap, one of the Masters is a Magenta ('88?) 56.... Nothing I can do until next week anyway. Kinda hoping it'll be gone by then.

wow. i used to live in providence... I regret the move. btw, NH to Providence is very quick. you don't know how good you have it over there once you come west and states are HUGE.

I recall this happening once before... maybe 10 years ago?. when a bunch of NOS Lemans frames in boxes suddenly came up.-

I suspect its real only because its more plausible to have a bunch of boxes with bikes in them than a bunch of boxes without. No one would have stored the boxes for so long if there were nothing inside.

if there is some action on this and we do a group buy put me down for the the Magenta IM 62cm (which by my IM tape is really a 61)

Edit: note it is 14 speed!

I'll make the offer more broad. Anyone interested in getting on of these, if you can coordinate a pickup for next week, I will go and get them, then ship to you. I'm not picking up shipping, though, I'm just the intermediary. Only two of those would fit me and I can't drop $850 on a bike without my husband getting really peeved.

Talk amongst yourselves.

I'm also wondering what's in the line of boxes *under* the Centurions. The seller doesn't have any listings besides this one.

Yeah, I had the same thought: what's in the bottom row?
Already own the Ironman of my dreams, but would be ready to pony up if there was a 58cm Prestige in there.

yeah i also wonder...I think that not many people will be lining up for this other than this site.. so the price could be very negotiable particularly if it was a group buy. If we said: we can take 6 of them off your hands at 400$, and he countered with 500...

Judging from his sold listings, he's willing to accept best offers. He was selling NOS cycling pants last month, maybe from the same source.

Magenta 14 speed has to be the 88 Purple Haze

The box marked red 6 speed only says Ironman, so it's probably either the 85 or 86.

The Magenta Master is throwing me off. We call the MV magenta. And the 54 IM is a 86? 800 bucks for a brand new bike is a deal.
edit: right 14 speed. Missed that.

Yes- purple haze not purple smoke. I got my terminology mixed. and I agree the ones marked Ironman are probably 85 - note the Elite RS boxes also have the diagonal stripe and they would be 1984/85 as I recall. as one is salivating on the IM the Elite RS is an elegant beauty that was second after the Semi-Pro- very nice bikes. a NOS elite would be gorgeous. the details on those....imagine.. all the bronze anodized parts still pure and clean...it would be really hard to use the brakes!

You had to post a pic, didn't you? You had to make me SEE it, something I can't un-see now?

But yeah, "MASTER" and "14 SPEED" made me conclude it's a hazy '88.

OMFG. I zoomed in. Six of them have similar stickers. Two of the stickers say '420 24" TAUPE' and '470 24" BLACK' . Those were both colors/models offered in '85 by Trek, per the V-T web site. O. M. F. G.

Edit - there are "coded" model numbers and serial numbers on those six labels. Again based on the serial number guide on V-T, they correspond to some '84 and '85 400s, 420s, 470s, and an '86 1000 and 1500. There's another one with a handwritten label, appears to be for a 19" blue 500.

sadly I think the boxed Elite RS are probably the 1986 models- since they say black. Those were cool enough but had lost the refined elegance of the 85.

here is a centurion color by model/year chart:

^^^^^ Yeah, from that page, you can pretty-much decode all the labels shown in the ad.

That 56cm Master is so tempting, but I have to pass. I'd be afraid to even pull the staples on the box and open it. I'd be like this:

1984, maybe 1983, had gorgeous Lemans RS in black with red/silver shaded letters. Suntour LePree, I think. Piggyback shifters. Smooth as silk, Tange Infinity or something.
