Two weeks away from the bike/training starts Sunday.
I should have access to stationary bikes and maybe a weight machine. Should also be able to dedicate 45-60 minutes to working out each day.
Any tips for staying fit while traveling?

nice, sounds like a good time. I like to listen to some extended EDM and progressive house mixes when doing extended chores or tasks at home and work. SuicideSheep (Youtube handle) has a lot of good stuff.
back on topic: finishing up core and upper body work at home. Plan to ride another century tomorrow, getting back in shape! This time of the year can be fun; I'm not (yet) burnt out on monotonous volume, and I get stronger by just riding around.

90 minutes easy on the trainer (watched Taladega Nights, hadn't seen it before).
Cross tomorrow. Bike is dialed in more than usual. Retaped tubeless that had been giving me issues, bled both brakes, new rear pads. It's a course that more or less suits my riding style tomorrow. Hpoefully nothing goes wrong. You know what they say, if I'm not first, I'm last.

Wasn't my day today. Worked from home so usually I can ride on my 2 breaks and at lunch, then 2 hours after work. None of that happened, so I just did one easy loop and saved my energy for the weekend; riding hard 3 days in a row probably wasn't a great idea anyway.

Broke through a mental barrier i've had for like a full year yesterday, which was pretty neat. Poorly paced negative split, lotsa watts! But as soon as I crossed the 10min mark (the time barrier I had marked in my head), I hit the lap button and stopped even though I could've kept it going, which is a bit disappointing on a grit level. Now I know for next time though!
Spun around flicking boogers for a bit then I stomped up another climb at a not full-gas pace and missed the KOM by 4 seconds. Life is pain

Cross didn't go well. Ground was slick, crasheda few times. Then riding home noticed how bad my brakes were rubbing. Apparently the pads shifted after bedding them in. Oh well. More cross races to do and I think I got it fixed now.
Heard about CX in the North (fort Collins, CO) next weekend. It's a 6 hour drive and I've been getting antsy to go do something for a weekend. I'll think about it over the week.

Cross racing for me too, my first as a 4 lol (still 4/5 field I won’t dare try 2/3/4). Rode the new bike and it was nice, had to get used to sram double tap. Maybe I’ll swap the cassette to my powertap tomorrow so I can get a better idea of how I’m performing during a race, I always guesstimate 50-60 tss for a 40min race

the FoCo weekend/courses are supposed to be pretty neat. never has a pretty strong scene, so there could be good competition if there's not another event that will cause the denver-area racers to stay closer to home.
i might head somewhere in the other (warmer) direction!

i wonder just how much power one is being robbed of when disc brakes rub. it's surely something, but i think the mental element is bigger than the physical.

Been antsy at home recently. Need to get out of the apartment. Downhill skiing can't get here soon. I want something that will take up my weekends. I'm a person that'd rather be busy.

Start running 8 weeks ago, so that when you go out for a run (out of boredom/OCD/panic) on your trip you won't be unable to descend stairs for the following 4 days

5 hrs, 92 miles charity ride. Started out with the first group, got to the front and set pace at 23mphr/230 made a mistake and stopped at first rest stop 23 miles & lost the group. Got lost in the morning fog but was a fun ride.

personally I usually find the saddle/fit on the stationary bikes to be rough unless they have spin bikes. I'd typically opt for fast walking on the treadmill. My go to workout is an hour at something around 4mph. Each minute I increase the elevation a degree until I max. I then go down a degree in minute intervals to about 10% then back up again. I'll then go all the way down. I mix it up so the math works. I'd find just jumping into running would have more downside than up (as tommy points out).

3 hours this morning on just a black coffee with some MCT oil. 2 bottles of water and a Clif bar at about 1.5 or 2 hours.
Forgot how flat it can be in utah. 60 miles with 1500 feet. Too much storming going on up in the mountains to get up there. Was beautiful down in the valley.
CTL/ATL at 89/116. Base training is going well! ~800 TSS this week and the legs don't feel bad at all.

This week was a cluster****. Disregard coach, acquire mediocre amounts of empty TSS. Hit some PB numbers at least but far too little time in zone.

another cx race for me today, did better than yesterday, 32/45. it was the first time I had a sprint toward the finish, didn't have a high enough gear and got sniped at the line by 2 guys lol (basically looking to finish higher so I can start getting better staging). saw shovelhd there officiating, I didn't get to give him any grief for not hanging on the interwebs

Past week has been getting my biking legs back under me. I don't get this whole "Ease back into it" thing. I ended up doing a trainer ride, then a mountain bike ride, then a road ride today. Doing a great job not over doing it.

Fricking Garmin lost my ride data again. This happens every time change. I wonder if I missed a firmware update or is this just an ongoing thing.

overall it's still rare; at this point, after 2 decades of producing devices with these flaws, i wouldn't expect it to change.
if never, ever losing data is a desired trait of a head unit, there are other places to look, but every device has some trade-offs.

If your garmin has an SD card try having the device record to there. That tends to be a little less prone to data loss IME.

Moved to the wahoo element over the summer. Didn't realize everything I had been missing. As mentioned, every brand has its quirks, but at least I get auto upload to Dropbox now a days for use in Golden cheetah.
I just wish wahoo would open source their api and let others develop on it, but alas.
