I do hope you made it home sometime before MCMLXXII?

In my case the offending article was also a bar stem expander bolt. A Mavic. Apart from the unusual bolt size it's a nice thing. Could do with a polish, though:

it seemed to be the case back in that distant geological era that "metric allen key sets" skipped good ol' nr. seven...much like your new set skips good ol' number nine...

btw - how long did it take for effe e effe to get at the wrappings?

Picked up a Koga "branded" Shimano AX 600 26.8mm seatpost yesterday. It's probably too short for any of my bikes but I will very likely have another bike to use it on in the future at some point. For €35 I just wanted it.
It came off a ladies bike that was crashed and he had a matching stem as well though I didn't take that one.

I wonder how hard it would be to turn this into a panto model.

Nothing major for me. Red bottle cage bolts from Wolftooth for the Poprad and a black housing cable kit to redo the Friere Olmo since things tend to stick a bit when shifting.

Got in another nice Fizik Kurve Chameleon saddle. This are my butt's favorite saddle and I grab them when ever I can.

OT wise I also got in my first new turntable ever. A really nice Thorens 1500 and man does this thing sound great! I was perfectly happy with my old Technics until I heard how stellar this new one sounds, life altering event like the first ride on my Giordana XL Super. Who knew life could be sooooooooooooooo good?!

Looks like I wore the postal worker out today! Parts from Alan, Rob, and Wes all came in at once. Rings for a half step gearing, some shift levers, and a much needed fixing bolt for a Simplex RD. Smiles, MH

The RD came in from Alan with the fixing bolt still attached. The shift levers will likely go on a future build for me. And the rings from Rob are destined for a half step gearing set on perhaps the Trek and maybe the Basso.

I have a set of these on my definitely-not-Schwinn-Approved Rans recumbent, complete with the gray covers. I think I salvaged them from the junk pile at a local Schwinn dealer 30+ years ago, when everyone was moving to that newfangled indexing and you couldn't give away friction shifters...

The new tyres arrived today!

To my fingers the Panaracer Gravelking Slick TLC feel pretty grippy but we'll see how they do on the road and dirt. Weight also seems to be good at 336 gram per tyre. I haven't mounted them yet since I don't have any tubes so that's something for later today or tomorrow.

I also test fitted the new front wheel. It seems to be a good fit to both the bike and the theme.
Currently thinking on replacing the headset for the IRD Double Roller Drive headset after I noticed the original Shimano Deore has become a little notchy and has started to *click* into place on the straight. That's not how it is supposed to work.
The IRD is silver though. On the other hand, there are plenty of silver components on the bike already so what is one more? I already know I like how it rides from the Batavus Randonneur GL.

Got all of these for $40 shipped.

The Profile Design only works for me on certain style bikes but I like how easily the ugly logo's are removed with steel wool to leave a clean shine like you see here.

Whoops. I didn't look at the ads closely enough, because I thought the non-reflective parts were just dirty.




Removing the rust for now, not sure how to best keep it from rusting again.

Short of re-chroming, you could prime then finish with a chrome paint. Some are actually quite good.

If not re-chroming at least paint it with a clear coat to prevent further damage. Too bad, but I hope the price was right. Smiles, MH

This is an OEM FOMOCO 4100 Original 4 barrel carburetor rebuilt to 1965 specifications for my 1966 Ford Mustang Fastback.
Yes - very excited to install !

Through the door about 1 hour back: SR Royal two bolt seatpost 27.0mm

I'm going to try accurate saddle angle adjustment and this should help.
Got a 1967 Wright's Swallow to break in when it gets warmer.
