I rode the usual 21.5 miles with 2000' of climbing today during my daughter's gymnastics. It was a spectacular day for a ride, upper 70s, dry, clear and light a breeze. I thought I was dragging on the ride but my total time was the same as always even though I really took it slow on the descent of Standing Indian.

It was in the low 70's and 17 mph winds but it was a beautiful afterwork ride of 29.88 miles.

Did a nice 57 miles around the Snoqualmie Valley with 2700 feet of climbing. Got interesting when a motorcycle crashed in my path.

I did about 10 miles on the MTB. A combination of tight undulating singletrack and fast rolling doubletrack. I kept the effort fairly low as I have my b-day ride tomorrow.

Got out on a 13 mile ride with my wife on our anniversary, then we went to a nice dinner while the kid had her 4 hour gymnastics session. Still wearing my summer kit.

1st night on the trainer. Yuck!!! Darkness and rain are not the best conditions for a HIT workout. At least I did 20 minutes of 20/40's and 3 x 5 min Z4 intervals which broke up the tedium. I need to make friends once again with my trainer and rollers after 6 months of being away.

Friday 10/09/09... Took yesterday off so I felt like I had to ride today. If you are observant you will note that I said felt like I had to ride, not that I wanted to ride. The humidity was 97% when I left the house, and the feels like temp was 95 when I got back. I think I am still feeling the effects of the Withlacoochee Trail Ride last Sunday.
All is well in Slo Spoke Jim's world.

Last night's storms didn't show up as early as predicted, so I didn't let the 30 mph south wind keep me from riding 25 miles after work. I had nothing yesterday, and hardly seemed to move at all while I was going against that wind. My miles have been down lately, so I guess I was just feeling all the riding I did in the last few days (20 miles on Friday, 98 Saturday, 25 on Monday, 25 on Wednesday, 25 yesterday).

I hope the flooding ends today and my legs recover a bit since I have a century planned for tomorrow.

A Friday morning club ride, the 3rd 50-miler this week. The main attraction today was riding up a hill we always ride down. Going down, it's good for 45 mph coasting. It wasn't as bad as I feared. Only 1/2 mile at 10-14%, albeit it is one of those hills that gets steeper near the top. Here's a picture of the group (minus me) as we make wardrobe adjustments for the hill.

Sun was shining, temps in the upper 50s, would have been much nicer without the 15 to 20 mph breeze. Still got in a nice 14 miles.

The weather will change shortly- but I had planned a metric for tomorrow. 100 miles to get to it and it is one I like doing but I have also learnt that if it is wet or windy- take care. Could be both tomorrow so checking out another for next week instead. It's more local but on a completely open marsh. Lots of turns round the ****s and if it is windy- should be good going in one direction.

So ride off for tomorrow so rode my age instead today. Admittedly that is a metric but easy pace and only had a headwind when going North. Unfortunately that was for the last 15 miles or so.

I would have ridden today if only my colleague hadn't come to work sick last Monday.

This weekend was the annual weekend ride to the beach (62 miles) and back the next day (45 miles), 2 different routes --- lots of fun, food, and great camaraderie. Hubby has called me at each rest stop so far, so I can live vicariously through him. I'd been looking forward to this ride with the anxious anticipation of a child on Christmas Eve. It does not fail.... as soon as I gain some fitness and start training toward a goal, something sets me back gain. And I very rarely get sick.

UCI cyclo cross race today in the Dayton area. Rode well but finished 9 out of 34 in the Masters 45+ race. Had a good start followed with the chain coming off going thru the sand pit and giving up all the places I worked for, then, on the last lap I fell with 1/2 mile to go allowing 6 to 8 riders pass me.

Hurdling with my bad ankle.

Check out my left ankle, that's why I ride bikes and can't run anymore.

50 minutes of pure adrenalin and hell, I love cross racing
