A very good question and one that made me ponder a bit.
I hope that I will ride one off into the sunset, and give the rest of them away in the hope that the good karma will get me into the "Pearly Gates"!.............
Best, Ben

I think that is generous and perhaps possible with a top end collection of Herse, Cinelli & Hetchins. Anything less I think you would be lucky to get $0.10 on the dollar.

I like this idea better. Mostly because your frame size doesn't match mine.

All my bikes are going to be donated at that point. Hopefully the kids will take to cycling enough one day (they are still young) that they can pick something out for themselves that they like if they so choose, and then the rest can go to charity.

In 2011, one of the first people I met when I started club riding back in 1975 gave away his small collection to people he chose, and I was honored to be gifted his Eisentraut Rainbow. He passed away just 4 months later. I hope I can do the same with my bikes with the same good timing.

The Eisentraut quickly became one of my most ridden bikes, and in my mind it will always be Woody's bike.

The Little Boy has expressed interest in some of my guitars/basses/amps- and he does ride the same size bike as me. I know he doesn't want all of it- but he's also good about selling stuff he doesn't need...

But right now, I'm on this obsessive "I want to get an RV" kick. I've never done a whole lot of "selling to get something," but I'm imagining going out of my comfort zone and selling a lot of the stuff I don't use/ride have real plans for and getting an RV that my wife will hate more than my bikes, guitars, basses, amps, stereos, speakers, records/CDs... all put together.

I think the same way 'hmm, I have a bunch of stuff I can sell, to get that other thing' the problem I have is that selling comes way harder than buying

I'm a lefty, so its tough w/ my guitars, since the kids are right handed, but I have a few that I have flipped over and re-intonated, so if they are interested there will be something there.

Probably going into a major buyers market on RVs soon you think? My parents in law got an RV prob about 2 years ago and just sold it this year. I think there are a lot doing the same. The cats didn't like it.

Besides my bikes, which are a collection of anti bike snob American and British bikes of no particular renown, I have a collection of American Motors cars and Victory motorcycles. The AMC cars I have decided I will gift to some of the younger guys in the hobby. I'd like to do that with the bikes but I think I'm the only person who likes old heavy junk form the '60s and '70s/

I'm 62 now so hopefully I have a few years left to decide.

I couldn't think of a worse burden to pass along to my family than to have to deal with disposing of my bike crap, and that's even if I left detailed instructions. After all, someone still needs to deal with the transactions, etc. I think I'll just make arrangements with one of the many CL bike flippahs around here to come and get everything and, if they're generous (though if they're bike flippahs probably not) to throw some proceeds back to the family.

Lets get this sorted out so I know who to pester (as a search old Davester posts to verify bike size).

I subscribe to the ancient Egyptian ethos of “you can and should take it with you”.
