oh, actually the one downside is you will get a slight up and down hop due to reduced spoke tension.

ps- i know real mechanics hate this sort of el-cheapo monkeying around with parts, and for good reason i suppose.

The Araya you have is 609mm "-" with washers...you don't have 'em...so the builder probably used an ERD of 608 or 607. Just guessing...
