17 mile round trip after work today delivering a small Baggie of decorative items to the quilt shop my wife works part time at Monday evenings and Friday's . She forgot them.
Needed a ride as I was persuaded by a little rain this morning to drive to work. Which of course caused the weather to be nice the rest of the day

I received the word that my 88yo mom passed away at 2:58AM yesterday. She knew how much I enjoy biking so by 3:18AM I was out on the road under a combination of clouds and stars. Torrential rains have many roads flooded so it was slow going for almost 2 hours and then the rains started coming down. Finished the ride with 21 miles.
Today I made it out at 4:03AM with even more flooding but I was able to put in more time since the sky was nothing but stars followed by the sun. 102 miles today.

13 miles Tuesday evening after it cooled off. Still got nothing in the tank since Saturday's metric century, just running on fumes.

Today was a planned lighter ride. I stopped for coffee with a friend in the middle of the ride. Did 12.49 miles and averaged about 13 mph.

Cleaned the bikes all day Monday, after the A/C guy left, so no ride. Yesterday morning was rained out but just after lunch it cleared up. Wife said "let's go ride!" You don't have to ask me twice. Got to the park pulled out the bikes, wife is airing up her tires and it starts raining. Put everything in the van and waited out the ride at the Welcome Center. After 20 minutes of rain, it stopped and cleared up. Wife said, "it looks good. Let's go while we're here." Go to the van and start getting ready and more rain. Packed everything up and went home. No ride yesterday either. It rained throughout the evening and much heavier into the early morning.
This morning we met some riding buddies at the park. Almost perfect weather for a bike ride; just a bit foggy. Ended up doing 20 miles with my buddies Dan, Steve and his son and then did another 40 with my buddy Frankie. We're not suppose to have any rain today, which is good. The park is flooded to the point that it's the worst I've ever seen. Another heavy rain and the bypass bridge that goes over one of the creeks will be underwater. The water level today was touching the bottom of the bridge.

23.6 miles (38.0k), cut the ride a little short because heavy winds came up so I took the car to lunch. I have 900 miles on the car, 4300 on the bikes.

Ten local miles after work late this afternoon. Halfway out, on kinda neglected rural road with lots of tree/brush overgrowth, came upon the scene of a motorcyclist who had hit a deer. A couple of motorists and a lady who lived nearby by were already with him and someone was calling 911. He was sitting next to the road, his bike was at least a hundred feet further down the road. No one witnessed the collision, but when the first motorist got there, a deer was down in the road - the deer had got up and away by the time I got there. No helmet, bleeding from bump on top of head and from an ear and few other spots on head, lots of road rash. Knew his first name but not where he was or what month it was. Wanted to stand up but we convinced him to stay down until EMS arrived. Which they did shortly. And got him into an ambulance and off for a once-over. Hopefully nothing too bad. Finished my ride and washed a few spots of Tony's blood off my arm coolers and gloves - he wanted me to help him stand up and grabbed my arm. I'll be on the lookout for deer on that road. My wife had seen two nearby a couple of weeks ago on a ride. Probably more hazardous for motorcyclists because of the speeds involved.

Good you and some other folks were there to watch out for him. Concussions and shock tend to disorient accident victims so they're not capable of looking out for themselves.
There are several nearby routes where I take it easy in the evenings because of deer. Even at 20 mph on a bike it would be painful.

I did 13 miles Wednesday evening. Didn't like the increased 5 PM car traffic, but once I got out on the quieter roads it was great, nice and cool.
First ride after swapping my hybrid bike's tires from 38's down to 32's Continental Gator Hardshell tires (more like road tires with a smoother tread). What a difference, seemed much faster with lower rolling resistance on these 32's. Getting ready for my 25 mile Lighthouse ride in 10 days....

22.9 miles (36.9k). Had to ride over a freshly paved section of road, spent a while scrubbing goo off the underside of the Roubaix. Yuck!

Got my 1K for the month and was feeling lazy this morning so I did a nice and slow, 25 mile ride with the wife. Going 10 mph through the park this morning made me realize just how much rain we've had over the past several day. You just don't seem to notice it when you're riding in a paceline.

Haven't been posting as I have no Internet here in the Mtns (by design), but between chores, rain, more problems with the Giant, and a trip to see my parents, not quite as much riding here in the hills as I would have liked.
I logged in about 130 miles since Sunday, mostly on two killer rides Monday and yesterday. If one looks for trouble here (i.e., hills), you don't have to look far at all. Berry Hollow is by far the most difficult hill I have found, and I've managed four trips up and back.
Snapped a spoke yesterday - never had that happen before, but I think it may have been overtightened during a recent repair.
I signed up for the Rappahannock Rough Ride on September 16th. 60 miles of hills in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mtns!

57 Miles. lots of climbing. Still some smoke from the 13 forest fires in the state, wore a welding respirator to keep my lungs healthy. Only 85°F today, going to be 102°F tomorrow and near that the rest of the week
