It was fun to see people of all ability/agility taking on the various routes on different bikes, working whatever programs they are doing. I saw a big man on the 34 mile route riding what looked like a stock bike off the Wal Mart shelf, wearing a t-shirt and blue jean shorts. All I could say as I passed him was "good job, almost there"

Its not what you ride, just ride it

Thanks Cuda and Chris for the welcome. I too saw some interesting things along the way...primarily a middle-aged guy riding a woman's bike. I don't know if he knew or if that's even common, but for me, all I could do was chuckle. This is a whole new world to me. Last time I had a bike was a 10speed back in my first year of high school. Haven't ridden since. I followed up the CC with 2 grueling laps out at Arbor Hills. It's fun to mix things up a bit.

Yeah I came across him in to the last few miles. He was pretty chatty and was having a great time entertaining the other riders. Pretty funny guy whoever he was.

My favorite sighting was a guy with NO shoes on a vintage 3 speed with panniers & a handlebar basket wearing cutoffs & a t-shirt. I felt like such a wimp. What with my lightweight bicycle and SHOES and all...

This dude smokes cigarette at every rest stop. That's funny, I don't care who you are.

I saw that guy too ... I think he had some flip flops in his handlebar basket.

This guy did the Sulphur Springs ride as well. He lives in Oklahoma and just gets up early and decides that he wants to go ride somewhere. He was very interesting to talk to. I would hate to see what he is capable of with a road bike and shoes.
