Bushwacked at the LBS OR this Mirella followed me home.

I stopped by my LBS wendsday to have them spin off a 'Schwinn Approved' freewheel for me (I really HAVE to get a FW-4 one of these days...) when Dave looked up from the computer and smiled. "I hoped you'd drop by" he said. "something came in I've been saving for you."

I gave him the $150 he asked for and packed her in the back of the Rav.

Looks very original, a lot of work to clean up, but definitely worth the $150. Nice one.

thanks for posting. enjoyed seeing this. a bit unusual that an all NR equipped bike would take a 26.4 pillar but that has to do the Leri tubing. one account i have read is that the company was primarily a steel tubing fabricator.

tip: i have had trouble getting those Nuovo Tipo QR skewers to hold on the rear. they tend to want to slip under pedalling loads.

the lady pictured on the head emblem is Mirella herself; head of the Leri company.

looking forward to additional imagery post redding.

The SA freewheel is going back on the '74 LeTour mixte it came off, but you might get the Regina CX 6-cog 14-28 from The Mirella to work your magic on.

The hubs and BB had been swapped out to Phil Wood, but the rest of the bike, including the skewers, is indeed all Campy.

All you need to do is relace those wheels with Campy and sell the vintage Phil hubs to cover the cost. Ride it like you stole it (because you did!)

Niiiice!!!

Parts seem to be mixed, to either side of 1977?

That's not a common brand to find around here.

And for an Italian bike to wear an Ideale saddle...

I'm wondering if this bike might have been first assembled stateside(?).

And this bike appears to be wearing the less-common GS headset.

The bugs liked the bike too. Looks like mud-daubers inhabited the hex recesses on the RD.

Congrats on a fine score! Local shop friends have sold me a couple of 56cm Colnagos of late, but for closer to $500 each, and they just got in a nice, smaller Lenton GP.
They just found someone else to pony up $1300 for a very lightly used, blue/mink Raleigh Pro, 60cm from around 1981.

+1 This is true to experience with one of my girlfriend's bikes. I was surprised on a couple of occasions, having tightened them myself to what seemed like an adequate degree, to find the rear wheel slipping in the dropouts.

To the OP: Nice score. Obviously, at that price, you'd have been well-served even without that beaut of a frame giving all that Campy/Phil equipment a perch.

Very nice score, Top!

I'm guessing the seat tube is straight gauge with 1mm wall thickness. 28.6mm seat tube O.D. - 2 x 1mm walls = 26.6 - 0.2mm tolerance between ST I.D. and seatpost O.D. = 26.4mm seatpost.
