Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

I think it's funny when people think I don't have a car... I just give them a thumbs up and wink, get them all flustered... My car is usually a lot nicer.

I enjoy being called a ***** for riding my bike. It reminds me that the motorist who says it is driving what is essentially a $20,000 wheelchair.

I think it was a strawberry milkshake. Honestly, I doubt I would waste the milkshake.

They're called trucker bombs where I'm from. Especially if you're a trucker and have a gallon jug of it.

Smile and wave is my favorite. I was once riding with my friend who is a short, blonde girl, and some angry guy yelled at us to get off the road. My friend promptly straightened up, waved energetically, and yelled "Hi!" at the top of her voice. She was so cheery that it was impossible not to laugh.

@squirrelli haha. good one.

def did the call me thing tonight after i read this thread earlier. the call me one seemed like it would throw people off the most. tonight this guy was behind me when i took control of the left lane to pass 15+ cars in the right lane approaching a red light.. a red light!! he honked, i turned around didnt break cadence and was travelling downhill round 15mph and did the call me sign with my hand and mouthed it and with a head nod I split the lanes passed about 5 more cars ahead of him when approaching the light. i was able to scoot through the light and he then passed me right after coming through the intersection and honked again!!

I was riding at night on campus in a 25 mph boulevard with 2 lanes on each side. I had front and back lights and was probably doing 15mph in the right lane. There were no other cars on the road except one, which decided to drive right behind me for a minute or two and eventually honked at me. Perplexed, I looked back and motioned that he should obviously pass me in the left lane which he then did. Still no idea why...

Other than that I've never been honked at while on MSU campus or the surrounding area. People are really accepting of cyclists on the roads there

I know a person who has done this. Was clipped by a car pulling out of a parking lot (driver just pulled out, no yield, just went). Biker was clipped hard enough to fall but not hard enough to do any damage to him or his bike. Driver kept going like it was no big deal. Biker jumped back on his bike and followed the car a couple blocks until they hit a red light. He grabbed his lock and smashed out the side window then road away...

Crazyness.
