It's been 10+ years ago, but IIRC this was the IM frame that was given to me for free. (I had another one I repainted black/white, and an '86 I had bought new). And there was a reason it was free - lots of lost paint, & rust I needed to stop before it became a problem.

Just picked this up, It needs to be cleaned up and a few repairs made but she is solid a 1988 Master! 62cm (yes another, this makes a 85, 87:E,M, 88:M, 89:E)

It was mostly all original except its missing the Original Araya CTL-370/Shimano 600 wheels. Got the stem moved up and tore most of it down for R&R more pics to come !

Those master 88s are really quick. The geometry, weight, and original wheels make for a fun bike.

Wow, never really noticed that. Good eye markwesti. Makes it resemble a track bike.

Freeking wow. Couldn't go to a better place, IMO. I hear you on the OEM riims, they're light and tight when trued.

Tell me about the 54cm in the background.....

He's moved on to more exotic brands, but none are the chick magnets the Ironman is.

56cm is my usual frame size, I can comfortably ride a 57cm in most makes. Much appreciated.

They're on eBay and i believe the shop that makes them can make them in custom colors. R.T. Has a lot of experience with Velocals co.
Eric I PMd you and I think you replied but I couldn't pull it up.

RT, The 54cm Centurion in the background is a 1987 LeMans with a Dented seattube and bent rear triangle. It was saved for me by our shop manager at the Bike Co-Op here in town, Where i am a volunteer at.

I brought it home and put it in the rafters for now, not sure what i am going to do with it. but its a late Centurion! ..lol Ohh the sickness

That yellow one is in good shape. Looks more like a 60-62.

Maybe they are measuring between the BB and the TT.

Well,
I just joined the club and found one today for a great price, it even came with the "owners" manual. It has a uni-crown fork and appears to be in very nice condition, no dents chips or decal damage and I think original tires!.....too dark for pics but will post pre and post clean up.
Regards, Ben

Could also be the tool kit in that bag. Probably is the wheelset. SSR in the early years was aero and light, got heavier in later versions.

It does ride nicely, though.
I'm agreeing w/ Robbie - I'm thinking the same thing about my 98% stock black '89 Expert. Just rode it yesterday - every time I pick it up, it just feels a bit heavier than it should. That's also with bag, light, etc. My '88 Master just rides lighter and quicker, although there are probably a few reasons; 56 vs 58cm frame, 600 vs GPX group, etc.

I'd be interested in finding an '88 Master in a 58cm (56 c-to-c) frame. I've got a few to trade, if anyone is interested; '88 Master 56cm, '89 Expert 58cm, '87 Master 48cm Salmon, etc.
