Thanks everyone

Thanks for all the options
Ordered a set of MKS and just tried out a pair of shimano clipless that are much easier to get in and out of then my Look setup.

Those are the pedals I'm leaning toward if I ever upgrade from the inexpensive Stolen Bike Thermalites. I tend to pedal with my arch centered over the spindle, using pretty much my whole foot, so more support is better. No more arch pain, which I had for years with toe clips and cleated cycling shoes. And I can adjust my foot position freely if I feel any twinges in the knees.

The benefits of clipless are greatly exaggerated. Studies have shown that pro racers don't actually pull up, they just unweight the foot. There's debate about whether they provide extra power in certain situations - sprinting, uphill - they don't provide any speed benefit on the flat and for most riding. Pro's wear them for the foot retention - if you're sprinting all out you don't want your foot flying off the pedal.

Five Ten shoes use a special rubber compound that's extra grippy on metal pins.
Then almost any pedals with metal pins in them will work. Just don't get cheap pedals with plastic pins.

It's almost like clipless without the slight annoyances of clipless.
