Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? Paul cross lever

31.8 but I needed a very minor shim as I needed to slide it over a little on my bars to avoid hitting the stem. Really nice brake action. People say all you need is a tektro lever but this is night and day smoother with better actuation. I’m happy with it even the $70 price tag

Dura Ace crank spider hits the chainstay ever so slightly. I might relieve the edge of the spider with a dremel but will have an issue if the frame flexes. Not sure how it will pan out and might need a different crankset. That and a seatpost collar are the only things stopping me from taking a personal day, completing the build and testing it out.

@bonsai171, it is PPG automotive paint "15008 Dark Blue Solid" at PPG and House of Kolor Paint colors for bicycle painting at R+E Cycles.

I'll have some pics after it is built up.

No worries, extremely happy you are happy. I am excited to see it built up.

Ordered a Castelli summer cap. I have a big problem with sweat running into my eyes while riding, and I can't ride in the sun without sunscreen, which makes it even worse. Hopefully this will help.

I used and liked the original Arione years ago, but figured I'd try the VS version this time around.

Check out a Halo. The rubber strip channels sweat away pretty well. I think they make a cap version.

Yeah I may check those out. The crux of the issue is that sunscreen burns like hell when it gets in my eyes, so I figure with the cap I won't really need to wear any above the eyeline. Sweat alone doesn't bother me too much. Thanks for the tip.

I have a similar white non perforated version of it from my Cilo. Yellow perforations were never my thing though, or just yellow in general. It is just not my color.

I am unsure of your love for yellow?!

I like green personally having had 3 bikes that are similar in color (close or actually British Racing Green) but I also like red and black for my fixed gear/single speed bikes and I gotta say some sort of purple or pink for vintage stuff (Cilo frame is purple, Phil Wood frame is magenta and Klein is pink) My road bike is blue but so far nothing else yet.

I too have kept an eye out for a vintage pink road bike. One day I will find one. I have considered having my road bike stripped and powder coated because the paint is in terrible shape and it's always a debate between yellow or sparkly pink. decisions decisions.

The struggle is real my friend, I have thought about stripping the Klein and getting a good painter to repaint it with a better Klein fade (this is pink into black at the rear triangle) sticking with the pink of course but it is original Klein paint in semi-decent shape so I won't.

If you were going to repaint yellow, maybe add some gold flake in it and make it sparkle way too much!

It will probably look pretty neat! If it comes out how I imagine it in my head (keeping in mind I don't like yellow) it will be pretty sick!

Since we're talking colors, I'm leaning toward Raspberry Starburst for my next bike.

Freaking new forum format won't let me post from my google photos since they don't end in .jpg

New saddle to replace the 9-year old one that has seen some memorable service... originally purchased for STP 9 years ago.
