I have heard of Raleigh Twenty folders. That is a one speed amalgam of parts, paint, and decals.

Thanks, after seeing the smaller one on Ebay that was in much worse condition and for nearly twice as much I feel a lot better about what I paid for this one. I'm taking inventory of the current collection and deciding what road bikes will go for sure. The only ones that are safe right now are the '84 Raleigh Prestige, '86 Team Fuji, 1990 DiamondBack Centurion Interval and a NOS 1982 Fuji Monterey frameset. All my other road bikes and frames are candidates for CL, probably some MTB's and a hybrid or 2 as well.

Haven't posted in ages, and normally winter in Wisconsin is not time to find bikes, but for some reason the local junkyard has been my friend since November or so. Back in November I found the Trek Snap-On Anniversary bike. It was minus shifters, derailleurs, brakes, and rubber, but I have plenty of spare parts. All put together, it is a handsome, American-built bike. Then in January some scrapper dumped off about 15 bikes. In between I found 2 Schwinn Worlds. Those I can sell as-is to a fellow who builds fixed gears. Also in the great pile of bikes was a tiny Specialized Hardrock (mixte frame, 24 inch). Someone had tried their hand with black spray paint on it, but that washed off with Xylene and some scrubbing. Needs some adjustments and a petite buyer. The last find is a BCAmerica mtb. From what I can gather they were in business for only a few years in PA (in the 90's?). Seems to have decent components. I'm fascinated and I couldn't resist giving it those gum-wall tires. Needs cables and the usual adjustments. Hubs say, "Sealed Mechanism." I've never seen that before. Does that mean I can't repack the bearings? All in all, with the 60 degree weather, this makes for great fun in February!
I'm having trouble with my images, so I'll post those tomorrow. But I would love to hear from anyone who knows anything about BCAmerica and "Sealed Mechanism" hubs. Thanks so much!

Got this today for $10. Nashbar ST. Some Sakae parts,SunTour shifters and dr, Ishiwata tubing, SunTour Pro drop-outs. Has some rust spots here and there but nothing bad. Sadly an inch or two too big for me. Will probably save it for a build later on and flip it or use some parts.

Just brought home a 1992 Trek 1400 with all the 105 gear still intact, and a Raleigh Technium Olympian with a mix of stuff. 600 shifters on Tri bars, Exage 300lx triple and front der. RX100 rear der. Exage Country Cantis and Campy Lambda Strata rims on non matching hubs.

Thing must have lived an interesting life.

Nice find, even if just for the components. Sell/donate the frame and use the parts elsewhere? BTW: I have that same trunk rack, savaged from the recycling tip, and also use it as a work stand. Mine is modified a bit to clamp into my vice. I've also bent the 'front' end arm down a little so gravity centers the fork when the bike is in place. Good work height and solid enough stand for most jobs. CHEAP and effective.

I had one of these years ago. It was a Nashbar "Road" I think. The decal may be there still on the top tube right under the cable guide closest the seatpost. It was all top notch Japanese parts. The one thing I noticed, despite how nice the frame was, was that the lugs were shoddily filed and even noticably uneven in places. Anyway, any part on there is worth 10.00 so you made out!

Thanks! Yeah I wish I was close to a co-op but I'd have to drive to San Francisco or Berkeley to donate. As soon as I can remove these cranks, I'll figure something out.
Heck yeah! I've had this bike rack sitting in my garage for years so might as well use it! Good idea on bending the end arm. I'll try that out.

Picked up a 1988 Schwinn Sierra out of a lot (edit: meaning a lot of bikes that was for sale). Cabling and tires are shot and it's dusty, but should clean up nicely. I really like the blue and chrome combo, wish it was my size. Anyone know if the chrome on the frames and forks on these goes all the way?

The Guerciotti came today, it has what I have read is the Ten Speed Design pantograph on one side of the brake bridge, no TSD decal though. I also think it is an '85 or '86, not an '84, I've read the 84's didn't have the pump peg on the head tube. Already picked up a few Campagnolo Super Record pieces. I have to be honest I don't really care for the Guerciotti pantographed Campy stuff it would have had originally. Probably a good thing because I imagine it is hard to find with a premium price and I don't need a collector's item or a show piece. I just wanted a decent rider quality vintage Campy equipped Italian steel road bike. I've had an itch for one ever since I got my new '71 Raleigh Grand Prix at Wheel Goods in St. Paul and they gave me one of their catalogs crammed full of all kinds of cycling exotica. "Campagnolo" was like the Holy Grail to that skinny 16 year old. It's taken me 45 years but I'm almost there. I wish I still had that catalog now, wish I was still skinny too but 16 again not so much. Now the fun begins.

This isn't my actual bike, mine has Metallic Blue paint and needs a good cleaning and some touch up but this is what the pantographs on my brake bridge look like.

Cool old Moot you have! Love the pointed lugs and the down tube beefy lug treatment.

Looks to be a mid or later 80's year model. I like the pad for shoulder carrying too. The rust on the back half looks widespread but surface I hope. Those should be easy colour to match for touch up. Be sure and throw that one up in the vintage MTB thread. You have a good one.

FWIW my Schwinn HS came fully chromed with no paint. Might be a year or two older than yours.
