The Pillars are what he sent me on my most recent build. They seem nice enough. I didn't check whether they were 1.7 or 1.8 in the middle. His ebay listings don't specify brand, just that they're stainless butted. I trust him to send me good stuff, and he always has.

The Pillar double-butted spokes are 2.0/1.7/2.0 gauge, and Lee calls them "much better than Sapin Race on a few levels". At under a buck apiece, including nipples and shipping, I'm pretty happy with this choice. And, as mentioned by others, Lee is easy to work with, and answered all my questions.

Did a little digging, and I can still get a wheelset's worth of Sapim Race delivered for under $55 from a couple online sources ... so, that's not much more than Danscomp used to charge.
