All else being equal, rims on smaller wheels obviously wear faster. Besides, those used by Brompton are on the cheap side.

I've already laced/weaved rims myself. Worth the effort, at least for rear wheels with hub gears (~10x cheaper.)

Hence my wondering about disk brakes — and Magura hydraulic rim brakes for easier use in hilly areas, but it obviously does nothing for rim wear.
