I lost one over the weekend too. Lost it by 8 seconds on a 5.5 mile long segment, so that's a pretty tiny gap considering the distance. Unfortunately it's just far enough away from town that I have no reason to ride there ever again other than Strava trolling. Guess I'll have to let it go.

Mine is a short hill not far from home so I've been hitting it at the start of my rides on days I'm feeling fresh. I think I can squeak it out if I can hit it on a day with no wind or a tailwind which is not common since it usually blows the other way. It always seems windy here.
Not only do I get regular emails from Strava about segments I've made near my house being taken by this guy, he also sends me text screenshots of his ride achievements. I don't even bother going out to try to get them back.

People enjoy Pixar movies because, out of the gate, Pixar realized that they had to appeal to the adults that were bringing the kids to the theater. As such, there's a very good mix of grown up humor that's slid in to their films and there are themes that can be discussed in more depth.

I feel like I've had fewer than 5 rides this season that weren't blustery. Then again, maybe it's just that I'm out of shape.
He sounds like a French shower.
A teammate of mine is a shameless Strava troll and moved to my part of town in the last 6 months. He also considers himself a "TT specialist" and goes out to troll segments I've created on his TT bike when the winds favor him. He also happens to be fairly strong, which is annoying.

Preach - when I first moved to Austin I started hitting every segment in the rather-confined development my apartment was in. There were a bunch of auto-generated segments that one or two people had slowly jogged and I went and sprinted them.
Most of those CRs still stand; I should go back and snag a few that I lost now that I live closer again.

When we were camping last month and I went on my ride around the state park area I hit a category 4 gravel hill that looked challenging. It ended up being a dead end and was so steep and sketchy I actually walked back down a good part of it instead of riding.
I made it a segment and I'm still the KOM. Don't flag me, bro!

That turned out to be a really hilly area. I can see why Whitewater State Park is a state park. You couldn't build anything substantial or farm (much) there due to the hills.

Vain, But Lacking Talent
I rode a bike in elementary, but I sure am not into that anymore.
The answer is because everyone seems to be a manchild these days. Just look at how many people seem to play on the bikes on the weekend. You're no longer 12, time to move on.

Ironically, I'm actually of the opinion that self respecting adults should not be running around trying to catch pokemon, and I have lots of opinions on "adult coloring books" but I also know people think I'm being a kid when I tool around on my bike, so I don't see that I have much ground to stand on.

Best part is that seeing young people on bikes is a bit of a rarity nowadays. It's mostly old-timers playing KOM on their wunderphones.

I'm a firm believer that having a creative outlet is a good thing. I also believe that skilled/practiced hands are less common these days, so maybe these coloring books make a bit of sense in that light.

I mean, what are the "acceptable" diversions for adults, if any? Why those?

Creative outlet is key. I know that's especially true for me and building bikes tend to scratch that itch. That's why I keep my opinions to myself on the coloring books. It seems like an especially strange, and definitely child-like, trend to me but I get that people like it and it's a way to relax, so I can't really fault them for it.

Yup. Is it any worse than dabbling in piano (or any other musical instrument) as an adult? Or, say, being a completely hack amateur photographer (speaking of me here, not you)? Or riding horses, or playing chess, or or or...
