Stem captain has some interesting ideas with clocks and such fitting in place of the stemcap.

Available in their arsenal of products are a clock, thermometer, bottle opener, picture frame and compass.

Stem Captain made a cap with a compass. I liked them, but they are not practical for a steel bike. I looked today and I no longer see them on their website. I only see watches and bottle openers.

Huh? What does frame material have to do with it?

I think the steel interferes with the magnetic pull. I wanted a compass stem cap badly but most of the reviews were poor so I gave up on the idea. Stem Captain even had more than one version with the newer ones supposedly being more accurate. But now they no longer even sell them? Hmmm....

Oh, yeah, that makes sense I guess! I mean, I’m surprised because I thought it was just magnetized metals which were problematic, bit it does make sense that steel could present problems. Thanks for the reply.

A stem cap fetish is much less expensive than a high-heel fetish. (So I've been told.)

And way cheaper than a rubber fetish, which I also have.

That’s as in tires.

I can't tell if you are joking or not... but a compass would be screwed up by the steel, and not show the correct direction.

Edit: Okay, I answered before reading the other posts. Sorry, you were serious. Yes, the metal interferes with the compass, causing it to be inaccurate. I really wish it would work well, the compass on the stem cap looked really nice, and I like having a compass.
