I do have a lot of steel bikes (about 30 and of which at least 17-18 are ready to use) and/but If someone twisted my arm really hard and I had to choose only one bike to use a Merckx MX Leader would be my choice. There are others that are more important to me and/or are better looking - but this one would be my choice if I had to loose the rest.
But I understand your sentiment, styggno. Mine was just a bit small for it to be a perfect fit and that was what made it expendable.

Did I mention that I like MXL...?
And even if it does not feel right saying it - this frame together with the 2009/10 carbon Super Record 11 cranks gives a feeling of direct connection in an almost scary way. I love my old alu Record cranks all the way from the early 60ies and up - but this frame/crank combo transfers energy in a totally different manner. It makes me feel fast. Even when not...

1992 PDG Series 7
1992 Paramount Series 7 This is a new to me bike and I haven't been through it yet, but it appears to be all original (except tires) and in quite good shape.

MY first Campion Specialissma X5 Super Corsa De Italia Mondiale. I got it as a frame only built it up
my second Champion Specialissma X5 Super Corsa De Italia Mondiale. For some reason I don't a lot of pics of this bike. This is more or less how I got it from the seller and it is much different these days.
My '90 Campion Del Specialissma X6 OR Corsa Del Cross. This is built with MAX OR tubing

My 1985 Nishiki International. It's had some modifications after the seatpost-lug cracked, so while it was being repaired they also added a braze-on fd mount, and internal rear-brake routing.
Made from Tange LD, and currently sporting Dura-ace 7700.

1992 MASI 3V Barcelona Olympics
Interesting thread. I apologize for the poor photograph and will post a better one when I'm able.
MASI (mondonico contract builds) made 200 of these to commemorate their victories at the olympics.
I plan to build it with a mixture of C-Record and Chorus 8 speed bits.

Jon is an independent builder in central California, Lodi, if memory serves.
I contacted him when his frame building biz was associated with a shop in the SF Bay Area, Los Altos.
It is mixed Columbus, fastback stays, slight upslope on TT, 1 1/8 headtube.
I had to have a bike with cream panels.
Purchased to be my 'forever bike' with slightly shorter TT than I normally ride. 15 years later, it still has the long stem & setback post with saddle slammed, so no skeletal shrinking yet. My newer bikes don't get too many miles, I am addicted to vintage with tubulars. But if I had to choose 1 keeper, this one should fit me into my 90s. I've also been acquiring 58cm vintage bikes that should fit me for life.
edit: the custom build experience with Jon was outstanding. I would highly recommend him. I think he won a NAHBS award recently.

Here's a pic of Jon's NAHBS winner, appropriate for an oversized tube thread, no less.
Jon is in the middle.
