10th Aniversary Eddy Merckx
I am looking for some help.
I got this bike from my grandpa. he was a hobby racer.
Can you give me an estimate for this bike.
It was never driven and the paint is in great condition.
How well do I have to deal with?
Is it valuable?
I like to give it to my son. Or should i sell it?
TSX frame
Campa Delta brakes
Thx for your appraisals

That is a grail bike in pristine conditition with family provenance, and New Old Stock condition. My WAG is north of $1200.
I would keep it in the family.

I think $1,200 is EXTREMELY conservative given the parts group and condition...I think an experienced eBay seller would be looking for $2,000. Less for someone new to it. I can't answer what you should do as an inheritance except to say that you have no idea if that grand child will like bikes, show it respect or want it. What they always can use is cash for college, a first home, etc. If he wants the bike later, he can buy a similar one.

Yes, to add a little bit to what Konaaron says, it is in incredible shape for a bike from 1990, it is a popular size (55cm) and the components group is rare and also in excellent shape. I wouldn't part with it for less than $2000 myself, I'd probably even hold out for a bit more since finding this bike in that condition is very rare indeed.
If you do decide to sell it and you go the ebay route, you will need to view some successful completed auctions to see what to do and what not to do. For example, these two sellers make a living selling bikes and parts on eBay:
https://www.ebay.com/sch/jamesb3791/m...84.m1423.l2654
https://www.ebay.com/sch/fyxomatosis/...p2047675.l2562

That is a great looking bike. I agree it is certainly worth keeping in the family. If it doesn't fit you or you don't want it find another family memebr. This isn't a bike to use for commuting or running errands this is real deal pro level machine and needs a good home with someone to love it.

I have a Merckx that I ended up getting after it was abandoned at Temple University. You need to understand that your bike has some unusual (and valuable) parts that, if they break, will be difficult to fix or source. I got mine because the owner tried to fix things on the cheap as they occurred ..ruined the bike...and abandoned it in frustration (some of this is conjecture on my part, but it's good conjecture). What I'm getting at is that it's not a bike to give to a child and have them ride as a beat around town commuter...it's a bike for someone who loves classic roadies and is willing to maintain it. That's a small % of people - most would be better off with a Cannondale.

+1 This is not a bike to beat around with. It is extremely valuable and looks to be in amazing condition. If you or any of your family members are not into cycling seriously enough to appreciate this bike, I would definitely sell it.
The Pinarello is really cool too!!! Where are you located?

Thanks for all the answers.
I will not give it to my child
I will treasure it as my grandpa did.
Only because of the money I will not sell it.
I did not know that it is such a great bike.
I'm going to take a few photos of the Merckx and Pinarello.
Is that about Pinarello also a collector's item?
I like it very much. Did not have one that rolled so well.

It really is a bike that many people would consider special with a parts group that are hard to find and $$$. Enjoy it!
We need to see better photos of the Pinarello...most of the Italian MTBs were re-branded Gary Fishers and the like. The Campagnolo MTB groups are extremely valuable and hard to find. Sometimes Campagnolo pricing is counter intuitive...the stuff that didn't work and which no one wanted are the parts that are often worth the most now. The stuff that worked well is often pretty common and thus easier to find. If it has a Campagnolo MTB group, I probably wouldn't ride it because the stuff doesn't work that well relative to its value. I'd probably sell it to a Campagnolo parts fetishist and buy a MTB with a proper Shimano group.

Yes, the Pinarello is definitely a collector's item as well. Some more pictures of it would be great. I don't think I've ever seen a Pinarello MTB. I think I saw a Cinelli once... with the Campy MTB group.

The Cinelli was made by Gary Fisher as I recall. I did see a Pinarello once - I don't remember who made it, but I think it did have the campy gruppo. I think there is more interest in the campy parts than the frames.

Wow - Columbus tubing would suggest it really is Italian built...nice, sensible Shimano gruppo on the parts. Very cool bike - not really sure on the value. Most MTB guys didn't give a fig about traditional Italian names, but I'm sure someone out there would be interested. My guess? Very variable value...from $300 to $800. This is a guess and I reserve the right to be totally off base.
I'd just ride it if you enjoy it.

Very nice. I wonder if there is a connection with whoever built the SupreGo bikes back in the late '80s?

That Pinarello is awesome! $300 is too low I think, but IDK if it could go for $800. Someone might actually pay that. Looks like a complete XT group, even has the shark fin!
Why don't I come across these things?
