got you, your teammate, climber 7, and me in the same photo. I'm on the way left side of the photo, about to do the oh so P-R-O move of chucking my bottle

maybe he means not taking the correct line through corners (i.e. going through the apex right at the sharpest part of the corner) and instead taking it like a farmers turn (swinging out and then going in sharper)

Not related to the pic but squaring off means you are not using a single smooth line. Think mid turn adjustments.
The ideal turn is one where you set your turn radius as soon as you commit to the turn with no further input on the bars.
Perhaps multi-apexing would be more appropriate a term. Picture connect the dots around a corner with a straight line between each dot instead of a smooth arc.
The kid that pushed me off course was doing this all race. Be smoove.
The Brits call it 50 pence cornering in the motorcycle world.
Don't make your lines look like that.

Out-in-out is ok. It's actually probably the fastest line. Delayed apexing is actually the best way, imo, through a corner if you have the room.

this early in the season, i'm still trying to get my handling and racing acumen fine-tuned. People are mostly smooth (though not always using the best lines, with your truly guilty of that) until the final laps when the wheel chopping begins. Unless i'm in the first 5 wheels, it's hard to do out-in-out

That's also me over Forza's left shoulder, following mattm's example of bare legs in the winter. It was 50 degrees I tell you. Warm!
