I live in Arlington, VA. There is enough salt in the winter to make me worry.

I'm hoping it works very well b/c I don't figure on having another bike in the stable for a while. I don't have to contend with too much salt on the roads around here (relatively speaking) but I do ride regardless of rain. There are lots of old threads here in various corners of BF about its efficacy and application.

Bike porn to come Sunday or Monday after the build. Some maiden voyage/commute shots will be in order.
Sometimes, life gives you lemons, and you have to file a dispute over a charge with your credit card company because the merchant doesn't give you the merchandise you ordered and refuses to communicate with you. That's been my life since Friday.

In case the recent Yelp reviews weren't enough to deter you, let me suggest you not deal with this shop. It's closed its doors in Alexandria and appears to be attempting to reincarnate itself in some form in Georgetown. Avoid it like the plague. I've given up, thrown in the towel, and realized that the same fate that befell the other Yelp reviewers had sadly befallen me as well. At least I did manage to get my frame with a $200 discount, even if it was two months late and unaccompanied by the other parts. (It's beautiful by the way!) I've filed disputes with my credit card companies for all non-frame-related charges. Let the credit card companies deal with the a-hole.

So, back to square one, or perhaps two. I do have the frame after all and it's a beaut. Got my parts order ready for submission on AEBike. Decided it's time to go for 8-speed while I'm doing all this. I was going to replace the cassette and chain anyway, so the only difference is the cost of a couple Acera grade 3x8 shifters/brakes. Brooks saddle, which had been promised by the shop as compensation for my troubles, has had to be relegated to wish status for now. It's tops on my Amazon list, though!

Shimano UN54 68x113mm BB
Deore M591 Traditional Dual Pull Multi Clamp Front Derailleur
Kalloy 27.2 x 300mm Silver Seatpost
Dimension Threadless Mountain Stem: 130mm; 83/97 Degree; Black; 1-1/8"; 25.4
Shimano Housing Stop for Down Tube
SRAM PC-850 Gray/Black w/ Powerlink, 6,7,8-Speed Chain
Chainstay Protector Clear Skin
Shimano Acera 3x8spd Brake/Shift Levers Black
SRAM PG-850 8-Speed 11-32 Cassette

^All for around $200 w/ free shipping.

Already have Avid SD7s waiting to go on as well as several components from my donor bike.

In the meantime, a friend of mine has kindly lent me a nice Specialized MTB so I can at least get back to riding and commuting.

I have company coming to town this coming weekend, so a trip to the co-op to build up the bike is more than likely not in the cards even if all the parts make it here in time. Revised build date: 4/23. I mean it this time!!!

Thanks Jeff! It's been a hellish ordeal and given all the delays and headaches, I doubt it was worth the $200 saved. Good learning experience I suppose. The extra time did convince me and allow me to put aside a little extra for a couple upgrades I was initially forced to delay, e.g., the Avid SD-7 brakes and a change to an eight speed rear/shifter.

I'll be sure to share pictures when the build is complete.
