Great info.
IMO, you'll be disappointed in yellow.
You may be OK with red, but given me druthers, I'd stay black but actually change the housing to red IF the housing was not OEM.
Glad you found the wheels. I've had spare Shimano and Campag freehubs for Mavics for years, very easy swap. If I'd known....

Anyone have any ideas?
I think the link is Monica Bandini, who was part of the team who won the 1988 Women's Team Time Trial. Monica rode for the Ricci Ceramiche-Somec team from Lugo, and here she is on a Somec:

The only image I can find from the race. Could these be Somecs?

Very sad indeed, far too young.

Your bike just becomes that bit more special with the link to the team time trial victory.

Great bike, like everything about this over-the-top unit.

As mentioned previously, the 30 year old rubber hoods do not have the elasticity they once did...

.....and as a result move around when riding on the hoods, akin to a jockey riding along and getting to a bend a realising the saddle is loose and slowly sliding off the horse.

Thanks to Campagnolo and eBay you can still find new replacements, so they arrived and went on this week and they are a much snugger fit..

And as promised I had to scratch my itch and see what the bike looks like with yellow saddle, pedals and tape. I just felt black was a bit safe, and everything else about the frame is so wild, I figured it would look better to honour the go bold or go home ethos, so I've gone full banana yellow..

Give it a week of London pollution and my grubby paws, and the brightness of the brand new tape will have mellowed a bit and will nicely blend with the yellow panto work and frame and wheel decals. So in conclusion I'm happy with the yellow and am going to keep it like that for now, so this is how the bike ended up.

When you said yellow I thought nah, but...I like it! With the Mavic logos and the variety of colours on the frame it kind of gives it a little consistency, framing it almost. It does however draw the eye away from the frame.

Yellow approved. Of course, you'll be looking to replace the Flite with a Concor.
