Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Agree. Very strange.

We had someone crash on our boat a couple of times. We suspected one of our sailmaker's employees. We don't keep booze on the boat, but I hate it when people add to my holding tank.

We have nice bathrooms about 100' from our boat slip. I go postal when someone wants to use the boat head instead of taking a short walk. On the water, no problem, just sit to pee.

It took me a while to get proficient at it with my face compared to what I've read from others, I guess I'm just not as dexterous as some people. But I'm good now.

My main motivation was because cartridges are too expensive, but the unexpected benefit was that between the single blade causing less skin irritation and ingrown hairs plus the quality shaving soaps that don't have a bunch of funny chemicals, my skin feels a lot nicer now. But it does take longer.

That's just it, I think the majority of crashes are from group riding with intensity. I usually ride alone, or with the Mrs, or with a few leisurely friends.

Yeah, my skin was never really bad, but it's better after the switch. I'm actually about to run out of the old school Prorasso that I've been using since the start, and I'm getting curious about some of the new soaps on the market that are getting a lot of love. Will probably pick up some Barrister and Mann next, simply because of the testimonials and the fact that it's available on Amazon. Would also like to try some Grooming Department, but $$$ and not as available.

To me, there is something about going from 95 to 100 or above. 95 is like some threshold for me. I ride in 100 and above all summer, but 95 and below seems a lot easier to deal with, if that makes sense.

I'm a big fan of Stirling Soap Company -- it's the right balance between affordable yet quality. They have about a million scents, I really like the Deep Blue Sea, Executive Man, and Benjamin Franklin.

Their soaps are great but some of their other products are hit and miss. I don't care for their pre-shave oil (I like the Proraso pre-shave cream personally), and while I like their aftershaves the fragrance is STRONG. I'm not sure I'll be able to keep using them when I got back to working in the office. Also-- some of their soaps and aftershaves have an option for "glaciated" which as far as I can tell is just super strong extra menthol and it's PAINFUL. Not a fan.

One of my pandemic hobbies has been learning how to make soap at home. I'm starting with basic cold-process hand soap but I hope to make my own shaving soap at some point. Evidently it's more complicated and you need to use the crock-pot method so I'm working my way up to that.

I gotta say, even after only two or three weeks off, it feels weird getting on the bike again. I of course know how to ride, but it feels odd for the first few minutes.

36+ hours past Moderna #2 - zero noticeable side-effects. Did a bike ride a few hours after the shot, and took a preemptive dose of Tylenol that night and the next morning. All good. Currently waiting to see what super-power I got.

Perfect sense. I can ride comfortably at 95, but no more. It feels like springtime today.

If I suffered, everyone should have to suffer.

I suffered after the first dose. By "suffered", I mean I felt a little bit of nausea that inspired me to leave work early and take a nap at home. It's interesting how differently the reactions have been. My wife didn't have any issues after the second dose, either, but a co-worker was hit pretty hard.
