Dude, do you drag your feet? I have 10,000 miles on mine and they look nothing like that.

^personal preference. I've rolled my AC 58s in lots of really rainy days and as of right now plan to on sat as well.
my mantra is roll what you are most confident in, because confidence in your equipment >> measurable performance benefits

def not looking forward to the rain. ugh...
i think my race may end up like yours in that a lot of lone wolves may just chew things to pieces. or we'll just act like a bunch of cat-3's and wait for the final sprint...

well, at least for your benefit, the final sprint is up a 3/4 mi. hill at 15% :-)

i hate those even more, though my sprint has gotten a lot better in the past year. two minutes all out is effing horrible. my advantages don't really kick in until 3-4 minutes have elapsed
my main concern, above anything else, is cornering in the rain. there really aren't any tricky descents, so that's good. but last year, i was part of a promising 3-man break (30 seconds before the start of the final lap), only to have wiped out on the turn into the finishing hill. technically didn't wipe out as it was a soft landing into the grass and i quickly remounted, but realistically it was 5-6 seconds of inaction, 5-6 seconds of getting back up to speed, and then almost blowing a gasket trying to make it up to my breakmates. I wasn't nearly as strong last year, and despite averaging only 150W btwn getting caught and the start of Hollow Run, i was toast. The second place finisher, who was in the break with me, was stronger and had a few more matches left. I at least hope to be like that this year in that i'll have more than just one match to burn.

chuckling @echappist. i did same in 2010, except it was half way through the race, i got popped on the preceding climb, was hammering about to catch back on thinking I'd just rail that turn and coast to the back of the group ... forgetting that its sharper than 90 deg. ooops. i went supermanning into the field! that race had 2 guys in it that are now top level international pros, and neither of them finished on the podium that day.

Last year we had over 30 days above 90 degrees, this year, 1? The past 12 calender months have been so odd. I won't be surprised if we see either a very cold winter or a very mild winter.

Bike fit last night! I ended up with my saddle a good 1.5 cm further forward, as well as raised several mm (I'm feeling a bit cautious about this, though, since there's a history of that doing bad things to the back of my knee). My bars came up a good centimeter too; apparently I had actually had negative tilt to my torso in the drops, which isn't actually any better for aerodynamics. The whole thing was actually pretty fun, a fair amount of bike nerd chat along with the adjustments and etc. Unfortunately, pedaling at 140W right now is enough to get me fairly sweaty .
I've been feeling a little sorry for myself with respect to performance on the bike and thinking it was hopeless. But then it occurred to me I was in this shape or worse two years ago, started riding hard in early August and by October was going fast enough to win a Cat 4 'cross race and top-ten an open Gran Fondo "race" (it actually was a sanctioned USAC event). So I think I'll suck it up, stop whining and get riding.

Hopefully he or any of his 6th degree of separation friends haven't been to Africa lately.

However, the Africa/Ebola thing is pretty scary. I haven't decided how much of it is media hype and how much the world needs to be concerned and consider throwing a net over western Africa until all is assessed.

I was chatting with my teammate who is in Tanzania for 3 months this morning. But no, he hasn't come back from there so I don't have ebola. I think I have allergies and slept with my mouth open.
