I attacked whenever I could, I like showing up on the slow days because im not fast enough to win on the actual race days (tuesday and thursday.) Im shameless. Honestly though even if other people aren't contesting it a win is a win and a drop is a drop.

This is interesting, I know an expert wheelbuilder and i'll go talk to him about this question. Hadn't thought about it from this angle. Also guys im not talking about running tires at 50% over the rating (though I think you probably could get away with it) im talking about putting an extra 20-25 psi in there. For what its worth a national champ told me not to worry about other people commenting on my tire pressure, im heavy enough to be a big outlier. Especially if you factor in needing to carry stuff, id rather stay on the safe side and run them pretty hard.

You think it's smart to run the experiment to determine just how large that "extra safety" is? Ever hear of metal fatigue? Just because you're getting away with it so far doesn't mean you aren't pushing towards failure.

I have profound hearing loss in both ears, wear hearing aids and understand the importance of protecting what hearing function is left. I avoid further damage to my ears when inflating tires by correctly mounting them and using proper inflation.

Assuming, somehow you're serious about riding a bike that's totally overloaded, at a rating above the tires safe limit, have you considered offloading the groceries onto a trailer? That'll knock 40lbs of your poor bike.
Is this the bike from the other thread that's about 4 sizes too small?
Anyway, I love Larry threads, though the formula is somewhat predictable.
Larry: I'm doing something totally dangerous and stupid, here's a tangential question.
Everyone: What? No, don't do that at all.
Larry: I know what I'm doing, I'm the best.
Then there's 8 pages of arguing, with a few interesting points thrown in.

Larry sees through Big Gravel's lies and doesn't abide disc brakes on road bikes. Larry also rides bikes that others have seen fit to discard. I'm guessing that Larry's rims don't have that factory fresh safety margin.

The issue is you're claiming that you're able to do something only because of your skinny high pressure tires. On its face, that's an illogical claim unless you tried to accomplish the same thing on fatter lower pressure tires, but when we dig further, we can't even tell what it is you think you accomplished. The "almost won" a casually placed recovery ride is a really weird concept.

Didn't he post a thread about riding on a wheel that was so bent other people were complaining about it and telling him to stay away from them?

Lets agree to disagree on that, but from this thread it seems like im not the only person who has considered wearing earplugs when inflating tires so im not that crazy for doing so

I never said the earplugs were crazy, but starting a thread about it is as is your failure to note that you seem to be having a lot of wheel/tire problems for someone who is doing "just fine".

His clothing choices are also just fine... I mean, other than the usual saddle sores.

Bro…imagine how far off the front you could ride with trued rims and tires with less rolling resistance! You could go tubeless. Even makeshift/DIY tubeless…does it really matter if it’s actually safe? Apparently not, based on this thread. No more pinch flats! Save the weight of carrying a replacement tube and all those pesky patch kits, tire tools and inflators and what not.
