Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I'm taking all the parts that I bought during a liquidation sale last November and putting them on a bumblebee SLX01 that should arrive next week.

I've been watching that bike at CC since I got to demo one locally, and in the past couple days, the color choices in my size went from 2 down to 1. "Oh crap," I thought, and figured that they were about to sell out of this one, too, just like they did with the SLT01 a week ago. So, I placed the order, along with cabling and other bits n' pieces.

I think that brick is holding ISSY's Pro Machine down so it doesn't float away...

Beautiful... you know what would just finish her off nicely? Change out the water bottle cages for these:

Just got 2 myself for my BMC in black, so nice!!! Would look even better on yours!

Also, curious, do you ride with the wristband thingy on your bike like that?

But again... Just beautiful bike.

^I'm guessing he does ride with it, you'd have to take off the stem or the handlebar to get it off.

They are a set of 38mm Checkmates from the recent group buy. Just set them up the other night and will be taking them for the first ride tonight.

Thanks Tsuru, I had some cheap no name carbon cages and I kept losing my water bottles. These cages hold them nice and tight! Would like to put something else on, I just can't decide which to go with.
Yes the wristband stays on. It's for MS, I have a good friend who has MS and I keep the bracelet there to remind me that no matter how much I'm struggling on my ride ....it's nothing compared to how hard she fights.

That's why I went full wrap cages, and it's aluminum with some grippy rubber, yet still light weight. Good stuff. Nashbar has 'em, called Tacx or something.

On the wristband, that's wonderful man! Whatever gets you to keep going is great!

ISSY, lovely set up. I really don't like the double tap thing but it sure looks sweet.

I ride with a breast cancer wristband see page one of this thread).

It's a Selle San Marco Mantra. I used to use Toupes but tried this after some discomfort (I lowered my drop a little and had some numbness, let's face it "some" numbness is "too much" numbness).

So far the saddle is a treat, ridden 4 centuries on it, raced on it and TTd on it.

I'll take your question as an excuse to post yet another picture.

Who was it that had the BMC water bottles? I'm going to check with the local BMC dealer just in case they have some, but if they don't...

I gotta say, the "go with your heart" advice makes a lot of sense. At this level, nothing sucks. I've recently ridden a Tarmac and a Look 566, and was planning to try a couple Cannondale carbon bikes, too (namely the Six and Synapse). They're all good stuff, yet I kept looking at the BMCs, particularly the SLT01 and SLX01, and thinking that they were what I really want. I even prefer the meaner, nastier black & yellow scheme of the SLX01 that I'll be getting.

So, I've now got my fast road bike. No more test rides for that spot in my quiver. I just need to decide what I want to do for my commuter bike, whether it's getting a new one or putting drop bars & road shifters on my city bike.

I wonder what she's thinking as she looks out into the ocean?? lol.

And Thanks! I like my saddle, but I have the occasional issue of ass pain come hour 4 or so, figured if I needed a new one at some point, maybe I'll try that one!

I'm supposed to be getting it the end of next week, I think. I've got half a mind to also order a Rival groupset and use my DA/Ultegra parts for the commuter... lol

Hah... Maybe if I was actually GOOD, people would read what I write. I just don't like wondering what a bike rides like, so I get a ride if I can.

Thanks to my partner (celebrating 10 years and good behavior) I'm not the proud owner of a new SLT01 from the Competitive Cyclist deal. Awesome bike, awesome packaging/shipping, and (of course) an awesome partner.
